Frightnening Fiend of Slaanesh

Hi all! I've been out of the 40k loop for a while, and as with many people, 8th edition has dragged me the hell back in, even more so when I heard that the emmisaries of my favourite Chaos God, Slaanesh, are actually good again. So, I set about making a few Noise Marines out of my Bitz Box in the classic 80s style. I've always loved the look of the original "guitar" Noise Marines, so figured this is the way to go. So I grabbed some plasticard, green stuff and some flamers from that lovely new Rubric Marines set and made myself a few Sonic Blasters, a Noise Champion and a Blastmaster as you can see below here. I realise this isn't the best picture, but I'm hoping you'll get the idea!

When I ran out of spare Chaos Marine bodies and legs, I moved onto something a little more ambitious. I found a Fiend of Slaanesh body in my bitz box, along with some other bitz, and managed to knock this guy up.

I'm currently looking for a head for him, and I'm thinking, if I can find one, I want one of the swishy hair champion heads from the old High Elf Archers box, seems like it'll make him look just about passable as a vain servant of the Lord of Pleasure.
I'll probably be updating this tomorrow and Friday, and then that'll be it for two weeks as I'm going on holiday. In the mean time I'd really appreciate some C&C, as this is the first time in a long while I've painted some MEQs, and I wasn't sure how to go about it.

Cheers Guys!

Thank you sir! I'm hoping to have a tournament worthy army by December, so that's the end game for now!

Have a couple of new WIP shots of the Lord, now with added head that I managed to dig out, exactly the one I was looking for!

Okay so I'm back off my holidays and a few things got released whilst I was away. First of all, the rules for the Emperors Children in the new Chaos book look solid. Your whole army striking first in combat seems incredible.
Second of all was the Primaris Chaplain, and I knew as soon as I saw this guy I had to grab one of these if only for that cool breastplate. So the day I got home I headed into GW and grabbed myself a box of Chaos Marines, a box of Possessed (not because I plan on using them, mainly for parts) and the big guy himself. Here's what I managed to put together.

Out of those two boxes, I also managed to put together another couple of Noise Marines, one with a Gibson Explorer type body, and one with a body made from the Slaanesh Icon in the box. Green Stuff work is a little rough on these guys but hopefully I can fix it during painting.

I also managed to get some more work done on the Chaos Lord on Steed, I'm liking how this guy is turning out.

As always C&C is appreciated, in the next few days I plan on using that sweet Chaplain Head on a Noise Champion based on Papa Emeritus from Ghost. What could go wrong? Tune in next time to find out!

First of all, Hell yeah Noise Papa Emaritus, go for it !
And neat chaplain conversion, the idea had crossed my mind and yours looks on direct tracks to heresy, well done. If I may, however, I am a bit unsure about the frontal chainmail, not convinced that it fits the model's dynamism.

Keep it up !

First off, thank you for your frank and honest comment! I wasn't sure about the chain tabard myself at first, and then I liked it, hated it, liked it again and then after spraying it I've started to hate it more and more, I'm hoping more painting sorts it out, but unfortunately for me, it's a bit late now!
Yeah man thanks, I'm trying to base all of my squad leaders on an iconic musician, the first one was supposed to be Corey Taylor's Vol IV mask but I'm not sure how well that came across haha!

Thanks man! I'm gonna have to start getting a bit more adventurous and chopping the arms up a lil more, getting sick of none of them actually looking like they're playing a guitar

Should have some more stuff some time this weekend, have a show to play tomorrow night with my band so it could be a lazy weekend other than that, hopefully that gives me chance to get some painting done.

Okay guys, have quite a bit of stuff to show you today! The lighting in my room is unnaturally bad this evening so apologies for the poor pictures!

First off, I finished my Chaos Lord on Steed. Quite happy with how this guy turned out, hope to get some better pictures in natural daylight at some point.

Next, some progress on my Winged Lord/Primaris Chaplain conversion. I's say hes around 80% done at this stage and should be finished by the end of the week.

Started painting my two remaining Noise Marines, just block colours at the moment but again I'm hoping they'll be finished by the end of the week.

Built my second Noise Champion, finally used that sweet Chaplain head:

And heres a shot of everything together on my messy painting table:

Also finished painting my first Primaris Marine, as yet unnamed chapter, but I'm quite liking painting these guys:

As always C&C is welcome, and constructive feedback is always useful. Cheers guys!

Well done ! Funny how the painting ties things together (or at least makes models more readable from across the internet.). Anyway, seeing this, I am not concerned about the chainmail anymore, you were right to keep it.

All hails slaanesh !

Cheers mate, like I said I have my reservations but now there's some paint on it I think it's fine!

BIIIIIIG update today on account of having no internet for a week or so. First off, I started work on batch painting a lot of things I've built this past couple of weeks, starting with 2 Noise Marines to complete my first squad of 6.

Secondly, started painting on Noise MArine Squad Emeritus. Played around with more random guitar shapes for these ones and I like the effect so far.

Thirdly (is that even a word??) I went full cheese and built a unit of Chosen with 5 flamers for maximum overwatch potential. The endgame is to throw these in a Rhino with Lucius and have them wreck face buffed by Lucy himself.

Finally this afternoon I started on my own (not) Lucius conversion. Obviously I havent finished the armour on him, or even relly started it. There's a lot more green stuff work to go on here, as I've only added the base layers with milliput.

As always comments and criticism are appreciated!
Thanks again.

Hey guys! Long time no speak. I've done a lot of painting in the past few weeks and even managed to get the most basic of force organisation charts finished (woo go me).
So first off, I finished my second Noise Marine Squad, Cult Emeritus, counterpart to Cult IX. Here are the Champ and Blastmaster from that squad

Also finished my flamer spam Chosen, as seen below.

With a bonus shot of the Champ, who I'm quite happy with

Finished my Chaplain conversion, who I decided isn't going to be a Lord, but is instead going to lead my Raptor Squad (coming soon)

And finally, finished my first HQ, a lord on Steed of Slaanesh, and started my second, a Lucius conversion. The holes currently in his breastplate will be painted to look like faces emerging from his armour.

And on another note, I started an Imperial army and I feel a little disappointed in myself. But they're Space Wolves, so that's okay

As always comments and crit are welcome, and tips on how to take better photos would also be cool, thats something I seem to be struggling with.

Cheers,
GM

I really like how you paint them in that "nightmare" style where everything is black (or very dark colours) except for the highlights, which gives them all the effect that their faces are leering and jumping at you. Really fitting for Slaanesh. Great job!

Adepta Sororitas: 3,800 Points
Adeptus Custodes: 8,100 Points
Adeptus Mechanicus: 8,400 Points
Alpha Legion: 4,400 Points
Astra Militarum: 7,500 Points
Dark Angels: 16,800 Points
Imperial Knights: 12,500 Points
Legio Titanicus: 5,500 Points
Slaaneshi Daemons: 3,800 Points

Very nice dude. I like the style of the Noise Marines but I think that Wolf steals the show. Excited to see more.

That's just part of how I paint Chaos stuff haha! I dunno why, just a style that's always seemed to fit. Thank you!

Cheers friend! I have some more space wolf stuff in this post so this ones just for you!

Currently working on a squad of Thunderwolf Cavalry I picked up on friday. Pretty fast turnaround on these for me!

Excuse the stray snow dotting parts of the model, just bits from basing I'd forgotten to blow away!

Also finished my Wolf Lord off, base is now done.

And here's a bonus shot of all four guys together

As always C&C would be nice, and normal slaanesh service should resume this week sometime, spray painting weather permitting.

C&C welcome as always.

Great looking models here man. Those bases on the chaos lads are brilliant, like some funky murder disco or something and the colours on that primaris are great. Your painting style is really cool and different, reminds me of something like the Borderlands games. Stuff really pops.

Haha thats kinda what I was going for. Thanks so much man!

So I have a few things to show you guys today, I've been working on a pack of 20 Grey Hunters (well two packs of 10 really and have another 10 still to build from the marines from the Prospero box plus some parts kindly donated by friends. I've managed to get them to this stage in about 2 days and now I'm losing steam a little on them. Here's all 20 Wolves in all their partially painted glory.

And a couple of my favourites

So to relieve myself from painting endless grey and silver, I've Finished a few bits I've had in the works a while. First off an old skool Nagash to use as a Tzeentch Daemon Prince. I started this one a while ago so the paint is a little rough but I'm pretty happy with him for a purely tabletop mini

Secondly I finished Arhiman from the Prospero set and plan to use him as an Exalted Sorceror in my Thousand Sons army

And I started repainting my Death Guard. Originally I went with greens and browns a little too close to the studio scheme, but I'm liking this much more after just a couple of layers. More to come!

C&C Welcome as always.

Cheers,
GM

Love the colour scheme on that Lord of Contagion. So cool and unique!
Any ideas on a name for your Nurgle Warband?

Hey dude, thanks so much! I have a lot more Nurgle stuff here today, and some more on the way.
Erm...I was thinking something like Legion of Rust, or The Rusted Brotherhood. Something rusty, any input here would be cool!

Sooo...First off today, I have a couple of Characters complete, a Lord of Contagion...

...And a Malignant Plaguecaster

I'm also working of a few WIP models, a second converted Plaguecaster...

And my first squad of Plague Marines

I should have both of these finished this weekend, and I'm also currently working on test models for my Cultists (using the frostgrave cultists and astra militarum arms), and my Poxwalkers, so I'm hoping to also have those done soon.

As always any comments and crit would be cool!
Cheers,

Over the weekend I managed to get some more work done on my Death Guard in between travelling to wrestling events and gigs (TNT Wrestling Liverpool is sweet, next show is 23rd November if you're from the area), but now is the first time I've really had chance to sit down and upload images.

First off, I completed my Malignant Plaguecaster conversion, which I'm pretty happy with:

Excuse the blurry picture, the light I took this in was less than ideal, will hopefully get a better one when I next get the camera out.

Secondly, I completed some quick and dirty test minis for my Poxwalkers and Cultists. The Cultists are made from the Frostgrave Cultist body and heads and Imperial Guard arms, hopefully they fit the bill nicely:

I also found some old Plague Marines, which I stripped to some degree and added some MkIV parts to put them more in line with the current range. They're pretty diddy compared to the new guys so I'm going to try to limit them to one a squad.

Finally I started basecoats and ink washes on my next batch of guys, a second squad of Plague Marines from the remnants of Dark Imperium and the Easy To Build guys, a Noxious Blightbringer and a Bloat Drone:

As we speak, ink is drying on the fleshy parts of the Bloat Drone, painted in a similar vain to what you see on the poxwalker.

Finally here is a bonus shot of all my completed stuff so far:

I have the three mail order only Plague Marines, Typhus, Deathshrouds and Morty on order so they should be next on the block to paint!
