Im planning on running this list against an admech list, and a drukhari list. I'm not tailoring it, or anything. I'm just trying to figure out the best TAC list I can get.

Battalion:

HQ:
Chaos Lord - 74 pts
Malefic Lord - 30 pts

Troops:
Brimstone Horrors x15 - 30 pts
Brimstone Horrors x15 - 30 pts
Brimstone Horrors x10 - 20 pts

Elites:
Contemptor - Kheres Assault Cannon x2 - 166 pts
Contemptor - Kheres Assault Cannon x2 - 166 pts
Contemptor - Kheres Assault Cannon x2 - 166 pts
Contemptor - Kheres Assault Cannon x2 - 166 pts
Command Squad - Lascannon - 44 pts

Heavy Support:
Giant Chaos Spawn - Nurgle - 75 pts
Giant Chaos Spawn - Nurgle - 75 pts
Giant Chaos Spawn - Nurgle - 75 pts

SH Auxiliary:
Renegade Knight - Avenger Gatling Cannon x2 - 500 pts

1617 pts

So....I have 383 points left over, and I'm not sure what to do with them. The knight and contemptors would make a fire raptor somewhat redundant, and, I could squeeze in the points for Magnus but I don't feel like he synergises very well with this list - aside from diverting some firepower until he gets killed and I lose almost a quarter of my army. I have decent anti-tank and anti-elite from 48 s7 shots hitting on 2's rerolling, and 24 s6 d2 shots from the knight. This can also deal with hordes. I could use the remaining points for some dedicated anti-tank, but I'm not sure how much I need it. A Leviathan with two grav's would add to my TAC by changing it's profile depending on the unit that I'm targeting, but, it has a very large price tag for an already elite army.

What are your thoughts on the remaining points?

Edit: 2-3 more command squads with lascannons, and a bunch of plasma marauders could be really nice. Dispersed anti-tank that's quite awkward to remove, and anti-elite marauders spread across the map to deny deep-striking area and generally be a nuisance.

I love the Giant chaos spawn! You could bring Daemon Prince of Nurgle to heal them.

Or More brimstone horrors and a Changeling to secure the backfield a little better. It's not the most exciting thing to add but it is almost required to have more troops for objective holding.

Cool list!

Thanks for the reply A Daemon prince could be very handy, actually. His 8" move is enough to keep up with them, and he's a more opposing threat in cc, especially if I make him my warlord and take plus one attack. I think you're right about needing more troops for objectives, too. It may be a case of marauders with plasma (they have innate -1 to hit, and get a 3+ armour in cover).

Would you consider a unit of Khorne Beserkers in a Rhino? With two Knights and some very impressive models with bib guns, they're likely to be unnoticed and go un-shot at, and that might give you enough time to get them into contact with another unit; even if they just get shot to pieces in the first turn that's still some shots that aren't aimed at your important models.

Renegade Knight with twin gatling is 548pts (gatling option must include flamers)
