So it's a pretty standard Astra Militarum loadout with using small infantry teams instead of big conscript blobs. I was planning on running GSC genestealers but that's out the window with the new FAQ and a Falchion has taken their place.

Is a Falchion too many eggs in one basket? Can it be competitive? The falchion can take a lot of punishment but I fear that all the games I play will drastically go one way or another depending on my opponent's ability to take down a T9 2+ 26 wound tank. I fear macro weapons.

any feedback would be most appreciated.

I've been disappointed with the volcano cannon. I seem to always roll a 2 for the number of shots. Fail to hit one. roll a 1 on the wound. Or on the 2d6 dmg roll low. Too many variables for me.

Though I did go undefeated at my local tournament with the shadowsword.

Without a conscript blob youll likely find your manticores getting charged asap and pretty much negating them.

I thought scions could only take 2 special weapons?

Maybe drop a manticore. Invest in conscripts/commissar. It'll be a force multiplier for you.

You still need mobility to win most missions between Maelstrom and Eternal war, so I'd try to fit faster units, even if they're just single Scout Sentinels or Taurox's with min infantry squads.

I think the Falchion is super powerful, but you'll run into armies that can spam S8+ -4 save like there's no tomorrow (Eldar, Dark Eldar, other AM armies) so you might end up losing it fairly quickly while it can't take out every threat like you'll need it to.

Scions can take two special weapons for every five models in the unit. They have ten models so they can take 4 special weapons.

Ahhhh! Nice! I get tired after making 5 so that's never come up

Yeah this sounds like good advice to me, thanks for the feedback. I think I just needed someone to tell me I needed them before I committed to painting that many models lol.

Thanks for the advice! This isn't the answer I wanted to hear but I think you are right.
