Hey all--new to the forums and 40K, although I have knowledge of the game and how it's works.
I am currently constructing two armies, one Necron and the other Daemons. While I have experience with Necrons I wanted to have my second army be vastly different from a more shooting focused faction. I chose Nurgle Daemons because I like the look and feel plus it's very different. Here is my 1750 list, I'm considering making it 2000, but I would like some input.
The extra 200 points would be a pair of Foetid Blight Drones.
I'm open to C and C. Let me know how I can improve before I make the investment. Thank you
PS: I'm not planning on being very competitive (tournaments and stuff) but I would like to be just competitive enough.

Deamon princes are better with 2x Maelfic talons, much cheaper and almost as good, better against hordes actually.
remember that aside from Smite, no spell can be cast more than once per turn per army so having fleshy abundance too often can be a waste.

Thank you
I made some updates from your recommendations--I dropped Fleshy abundance from the GUO and only kept them in the Heralds. I gave the Princes a pair of talons and went to 3 groups of 30 Plaguebearers. They will get their -1 to hit bonus until they lose 11 mondels as opposed to 6.
This leaves me at 1780 in points. I want to go up to 2000. Not sure where to go from here.

Not that he is that impressive but since you are mono nurgle why not take epidemus? He can just buff you iff things are going well.
Its hard to play mono a god effectively but I think your list seems solid.

* Drop the warp bolters. Unless you have a few points to burn, they are not worth it.
* You want to go up to 30 plaguebearers per unit. You might want to consider just taking 60 of them and grabbing 20 poxwalkers for a deckchair unit on a home objective.
* Make your units of plauge drones 7 strong each. 7 is Nurgle's magic number, after all.
* As mentioned, take claws on your princes. Stick each prince in a squad of plague drones.
* Drop the Supreme Command detachment. Drop your Nurgle Herald. Honestly the herald just does not do that much. I only run one in my army because I need to in order to fill my detachment. Otherwise princes are just better. This is because the +1 STR does not help nurgle nearly as much as other gods.
* If you have a FW or custom GUO, I would go with it. If you are just getting into the game, hold off before buying one. The old models are ugly -- and are going to be replaced sooner or later. See how the LoC and BT were updated? I'm betting that is the way the GUO and KoS will go too -- so for now just leave it aside. Again, if you have the FW version, that's different. That model is epic and it's what I run.
* Epdemius is also a good choice if you have the model.
* Blight drones are good way to jump to 2k points.

Thanks to everyone for their input.
I was able to shave the list down and added somethings here and there. I ultimately decided on 1750, but I may up to 2000. Not sure. I like this loadout the most.
It is hard making a Mono-God Daemon list, as I was tempted to move into some Plague Marines and stuff. But I think this works well.

* 2k is the normal matched play point value. I suggest building your armies to that value.
* You forgot to pay for the weapons on your blight drones. They will be closer to 160 points each.
* CSM has some good options. After the death guard book drops I'll be mixing them into my nurgle army. At this time, death guard are just a touch to expensive for what they provide.
* Add an instrument on your plague drones. Getting that +1 charge range is really, really handy.

So with adding everything up and adding the Instrument to the Plage Drones I'm at 1888. I got about 100 points to use, and I'm not sure where I can throw them into. I thought about some Nurglings, but with a group that small I can give up first Blood quickly. Thoughts?

Are you talking Blight Drone or Bloat Drone? Because those are different units (the blight drone being from Forge World)

Sure! I'm in the process of building the army right now. I'm considering replacing GUO with Mortarion once I get a better idea on what he actually does.
General strategy: start with Princes, Poxwalkers, and Bloat Drones on the table with the Nurglings deep striking with Mischief Makers. Ritual in Plaguebearers, Plague Drones, and GUO for additional support. Resilience with Daemon saves and Disgustingly Resiliant saves will gum up the table and I then can get into close combat. With what I've seen on the outside looking in (and as a new player) vehicles are nuts now, and with the removal of blast templates I think hordes can counter them. I also haven't seen big gun line armies anymore, which SM and CSM being the rage now.
Anyways, thanks for your help everyone and I'll get a bat-rep soon

Made some changes over the weekend to my list. I had first decided to ditch the Bloat Drones for a second group of 7 Plague Drones, but I feel like I want more back line support with actual shooting. The army is almost entirely melee based and I really wanted some fire support. I also grimes back the Poxwalkers because they would mostly just be a "set it and forget it" unit.
My list now
Thanks again for all of your advice. I should have this completed with a report soon!
