Hello all,
Our store is hosting the Fate of Konor event, but since none of the staff actually plays 40k they seem to not be able to answer our questions.
So, I put it to you! Do please let me know if you know for sure, or just a best guess (even common sense).
1. Are players locked into the side they choose for the whole campaign? Imperial, Chaos, Xenos
2. Can Xenos decide multiple times to fight for Imperial or Chaos, or just switch once?
3. Within your side (Imperial, Chaos, Xenos), can you freely change army factions every game?
4. For the weekly bonus units (i.e. Elites, Flyers, etc), can you paint a unit you already own or do you actually have to buy a new model(s) with that role and paint it?
Thanks everyone, my Sisters are looking forward to defending the Imperium! Automatically Appended Next Post: #2 was answered on WH40k facebook page by them.
Xenos can choose which side to fight for every game.

From what I understand, Xenos have the option of allocating for/against either Imperium or Chaos. Doesn't mean every game has to be aligned to the same one. Chaos always chaos, imperium always imperium, with Xenos being the wildcards.
You do not have to buy anything new to compete in any event - bring what you have. Certain events cater towards buying something new, but it's not required in order to participate.

The 'something new' is what I'm unclear about. New and in just bought? New as in newly painted, or new as in you haven't used it yet in the campaign?
Double points is pretty huge and worth possibly buying new units if that is what they want.

1.) No. You can play different factions in different games. So just as an example: you play five games a week winning each one , one with Sisters, one with CSM, two with Orks and one with Eldar - the first two games count for their respective factions (despite you winning once for both sides), and you could decide before each of the other three games for what sides you want them to count.
2.) Yes, see 1.).
3.) Yes.
4.) You can do both, and even use already painted units. You do not have to buy something in that week to make it "count" for the campaign.
All of this is correct according to my local GW store - but these things can be handled slightly differently from store to store. Keep in mind that things like "unit painted this week" can not be controlled by anybody: you can always claim that it was "painted this week" and nobody could prove you wrong anyway.

Xenos can choose which side to fight for every game.
1) Players are not locked, they may freely choose their faction as and when they play games.
2) Xenos could for example, play for Chaos for one game, then Imperium for the next three, then Chaos for two, then Imperium for one, etc etc. They may change alignment multiple times.
3) You may change your faction as you are the player, not the army. You want to play UM one week then WS the next, that would be fine.
4) I believe that would be store discretion but at my local GW you would have to buy the models.

“But what about us xenos players?!” we hear you ask. Fear not – xenos armies play a really important part in the campaign, as their victories can take points away from Imperial or Chaos forces, representing the xenos forces disrupting the war effort on both fronts. So, if Chaos is winning in your area, and you want to stop them, you can. Or, if the Imperium pulls ahead and you want to redress the balance, you can swap sides half way through the campaign! Typical treacherous xenos…"

So peopel can freely change between playing Imperial and Chaos and Xenos?
I know Xenos players can on a per game basis decide whether to fight for Chaos or the Imperium.
But can a player play Imperial/Marines one week, then switch to Chaos/Daemons the next? Or do you have to stick with one of the three sides/teams for the whole campaign? Automatically Appended Next Post: Sorry for the questions, our store isn't starting it until Saturday.
And can we choose point/power limits ourselves, or are they dictated each week as well?

You can change your faction each game.
Example
Game 1: You play Space Marines
Game 2: You play Tau
Game 3: You play Space Marines
Game 4: You play Chaos Daemons
Game 5: You play Chaos Daemons
Game 6: etc etc
Depend on what army you want to play for that game.
EDIT: Points and Power Levels are decided on a game by game basis and agreed with your opponent.
There will be a set scenario for this week, I know as I've already got a game in.

Good day Ladies and Gents,
I believe all apart from the last of your questions have been answered fully so I'll just skip to question 4.
So in relation to the additional points that count towards the campaign points for either side (Imperium and Chaos) it's not a simple answer I'm afraid.
The Fate of Konor Campaign actually started off some time ago ie. last month with the mustering of forces. This was basically a month to get a NEW army (now the "NEW" part wasn't stated on the community page but my local store put it up on their facebook page and wasn't the only one, and is actually enforcing this).
So essentially since the start of the muster period (end of June/beginning of July) you were given extra points for your chosen side if you BOUGHT, built and painted a 50 power level force for the campaign and then used it in battle. This has expanded into the additional points for a different category of the units in the FOC (HQ, FA, Troops etc.) each week of the campaign. I have found this to be rather frustrating as I have about 2500 points worth of grey plastic still in boxes waiting to be built and was told by the store manager I couldn't make a vow to build the 50 power army as it was bought prior to the muster period. Made all the more frustrating that I have found by talking to some people who play in other stores further afield that other GWs aren't as rigid. Ah well, it's just led me to pledge not to give GW any more of my money. I'll be buying third party from now forward.
I'd just check with your local store as to what they're allowing people to include. Glad to see the Sisters are at Konor helping us to defend the system.
