I'm trying to utilize the swarm I had from 6th edition now that I've started playing again in 8th. I have tervigons and hordes of termagants I'm not utilizing because I'm unimpressed with the tervigon this edition. I also have hive crones and a large handful of genestealers and brood lord that have so far gone unused. Here is my latest attempt at 2000, looking for thoughts and opinions.

Swarmlord

Flying hive tyrant, 2x rending claws, adrenal glands

20 genestealers

10 termagants

3 rippers

3 tyrant guard

3 hive guard, impaler

3 hive guard, impaler

1 trygon, adrenal glands

1 exocrine

1 exocrine

Tyrant guard set up in reach of Swarmlord and both tyrants to dissuade alpha strike. Genestealers deep strike with trygon. Termagants hold backfield objective, rippers tunnel in and contest another. One worry is lack of backfield synapse for the fire line of exocrine and hive guard.

I also have 3 zoanthropes and what I suppose is now a "malanthrope." Wondering if the squad of 4 is really worth it for just some synapse, smite, and a nice invulnerable. Warriors seem useful, but sadly mine are modeled with St/rc.

Well, Warriors are a decent backfield babysitter...even if you don't have the "perfect" loadout. One question is what is the Swarmlord using Commander on? That should let you slingshot a unit up...maybe a second CC unit? Or a Broodlord? Broody is a pretty dang nice Synapse leader, and he can buff Stealers.

As of now the Swarmlord uses hive commander on the deep striking steamers that come in with the trygon. I was thinking of adding another unit of steamers to walk with a broodlord. T1, walking steamers get hive commander. T2 trygon comes in and those stealers get HC. I'm just wary of not getting first turn with steamers on the board ripe to get wiped out.

Yep, you want to get multiple threats...you can delay popping up as late as T3 though, to slingshot, the dig is a possable tactic.
