I've been thinking about this for a bit but haven't been able to find anything in the lore which specifically confirms/denies it.

My thought process is; Regular space marines in 7th and before were recruited from Imperial worlds, put through grueling training and then given Astarte organs/enhancements to become Space Marines.

The lore of 8th so far tells us that Regular Space marines can be further enhanced to Primaris marines via several new organ implants/enhancements. Therefore a person who started out as regular human, became and Astarte can then become a Primaris Marine.

The question I'm pondering is; can humans be upgrade and enhanced directly from imperial citizen to Primaris marine? Specifically is this addressed anywhere in the lore?

Thanks for your input ahead of time mates!

That hasn't actually been confirmed yet, so far as I'm aware.

The Primaris Marines in Dark Imperium were recruited as humans, just as is done for regular Space Marines.

yeah Primaris Marines are by all accounts, created in more or less the same way Marines are. from what we can tell the ONLY differance is new things are added. looking at the coidex, the real big thing is the Magnifcant which super charges two of the glands a space marine receives to make them grow even biggerm with even denser bones. this'll be the real trick to implantation and weather standard marines can be upgraded. if it needs to be added at the same time those earlier organs are then no marine could be upgraded. if it could work afterwards though...

Opinions are not facts please don't confuse the two

That, and there's a mention in the Dark Imperium book of the process having a significantly lower failure rate.

That though may not be something intrinsic to the Primaris Process as it is simply the process not having ten thousand years of accured ceremony etc. fresher gene seed etc.

I still want some one to say where this idea came from. People keep mentioning it and ive never seen it anywhere.
Why would Calgar be worried about being replaced, if he could just get some new bits. Including a new 300 yr old skelebones.

I think Calgar is worried of being replaced by Cato, since Guilliman has taken an interested in the latter while Calgar's own insecurities keep making it seem like Guilliman is criticizing him.

Hell, I'm not that bothered by the Stormraven. Why? Because, as it stands right now, it's "limited use".When it's shoehorned in to the Codex: Space Marines, then yeah. I'll be irked.

Pete Foley said so in the second 8th edition live Q&A.

I mean, how else would have Cawl created the bunch that were in Stasis in the first place?

They were recruited humans, not space marines.

It was mentioned in one of the early Facebook FAQs... but then later on one of the Black Library authors said that this hadn't been presented yet as something that was possible, and it hasn't been mentioned in any actual publication so far.
