Its time to expand from AoS now that the 40k rules are simplified.

So after abit of thinking and watching how F&Q changes armies from month to month, i desided to jump on the SM bandwagon seeing as it appears to be the safe zone for a nub.
thing is, the amount of options in SM completely overwhealms me and i have no idea what to select.

I do know this: i will be running iron hands as my chapter hoping that rare 6+ save will sometimes save my gameplay errors(my aos death army has the same 6+ save and atleast in there it has helped me from time to time, and i have allready ordered iron hands conversion kit from direct for the basic marines), i will NOT add this expensive primaris stuff and my army size will be 25 power points to begin whit, then moving on to 500p but going no higer then 1000p. i dont like big armies or long games. (i rather play best out of 3 games)

So i need your guys oppinions on what i should get. I wish for stuff that is somewhat universal, aka no matter what army i may end up agasint, what little selection i have wont be usless atleast on the paper.
It might be boring to play, but atleast it gives me the ability to look at the game rather then the units in my first 3-4 months.

So far i have ordered 2 boxes of defualt marines (but i dont evne know if i should run them as 5 man or 10 man in 25pp/500p games) and 1 fluff choise beeing the thunderfire cannon. (looks simply too cool and i tought it could be a nice option for softening up infantry)

Rest i need help whit.

My advice? buy assault on calath, that'll give you 1 captain, 1 chaplain, 30 space marines, 5 terminators, and a dreadnought. that's a great core for your army

Opinions are not facts please don't confuse the two

I’ll second the recommendation of the Betrayal at Calth box. Bang for your buck it gives you a lot of nice stuff.

From there I’d look into getting some transports, probably razorbacks (don’t glue the top hatch on and you can also field them as rhinos). And maybe a box of devastators, just so you have more heavy weapons then just ML/HBs. Not that that’s as bad as it used to be.
