So I've been inspired by the absolutely menacing look/feel to the Iron Fleet in the new season of GoT and wanted to try and paint my Overlord ships as such. However, I believe that it's the sails that make the Iron Fleet so terrifying. So, Dakka, I ask for any and all suggestions/opinions on how to go about painting them.

The color scheme, I feel, should be majority black (Black Templars/Deathwatch method?) with silver and gold trim. I was thinking of giving the ships an eerie feeling by adding some Oxide to the deck recesses. For the emblem, I would have a Kraken stencil to paint over in gold.

Any suggestions to make these models pop? Would you paint the balloons the same color as the hull?
