Hi all, I'm looking for a bit of advice as I'm considering a couple of options here and I'm having trouble picturing the results in my head. Would be helpful if I had some opinions weighing in.
I'm working on a Canoness right now, and if everything goes according to plan, she'll be the basis for the rest of my sisters of battle army, which I'm finally getting around to painting after all these years. The scheme itself is fairly dark, black, dark grey, and metallic red are the dominant colours, and she's mounted on a sector imperialis base. I'm trying to come up with a scheme for it that looks nice, compliments the colour scheme and doesn't overpower the model.
I'm trying to decide between:
A desert theme, with silver plating, brass joins and darker metal on the thicker stuff, and either a white or black marble effect on the sidewalk tiles. Sand in the naked ground parts and cracks, the metal dulled and tarnished accordingly.
A winter theme with a cleaner look to the metal plating, black marble sidewalk tiles and snow effects, with a wet watery effect around those vents on the metal floors.
How does the sector imperialis tile look with a marble effect on it, is it too rough? Is the darker colour scheme more suited to a darker, colder base, or a lighter one for contrast?
