Hey guys had a recent game against space marines, they were running all primaris, and I noticed that the new marines can now outshoot Tau very easily.

Their basic guns have the same range they hit on 3+ and they have a -1 ap. So having a gun fight with them is a losing battle they get into cover and now have a 2+ armour. Their captains give them reroll 1 on wound and hit and the base troop has 2 wounds.

The new redemptor dread with better stats then the riptide, ghostkeel and broadsides at a fraction of the cost.

The were playing raven guard. Their army wide ability is a -1 to hit if you are 12in or further away, seems way to powerful. Had a solid gun line that couldn't hit a damn thing.

Im really struggling to define the Tau play style in 8th. Outgunned and out ranged all game i could barely make a dent in them.

Marines were basically the jack of all master of none in 7th Ed, now i cant seem to find any weakness to them.

Any tips would be awesome, cheers.

Ravenguard could be a tough match up for Tau, for that -1 to hit, if you get too close you get charged by their jump pack units.

I am not so familiar with the 8th edition Tau, except knowing that ATS grants a further -1 to hit. As a Marine player, I know that Primaris units are usually quite expensive, and that 2 wounds are vunerable to Multi damage weapons, is the missile pods or HYMP have 2D each shot? If it does, pack more and pair with ATS.

-1 to hit can be go around by having native BS2+, like spam Battle suit commander. and each one of them have 4 weapons which transfers in awesome firepower. Is the marker light also going help in this edition?

Riptide has fallen from the top position of Tau army. Just pay a few more points to grab a Storm Surge.

tau commander spam is a higher tier army than any pure space marine force can be.

If you aren't going full awful people hate you cheese, drop ins are still what you want.
