So I'm looking to make a Space Marine Chapter based on Poland in the 1400 - 1800 years.
I did some research but it seems that no one has attempted it yet which I find strange given the relatively large Polish
40k community and the usual patriotism found amongst us.
The themes will generally revolve around a chapter based in a system trapped between constant attacks by Tyranids and Chaos incursions. This chapter has been under constant attack, whereas other marine chapters might be sent on crusades and missions, the marines of this chapter have made their home world in such a place so that all their efforts are spent in protecting and striking back at the enemies of the system. Come from a proud and deeply religious people their ancestors fought with great wings mounted on their backs (hell yeah I'm including husaria) as the sound of these wings rushing in combat was used to send the enemy horses mad-currently they have no use in battle in the 41st millenium aside from intimidation and tradition/rank.
The emblem would probably be an eagle, or an eagle's wing or something like that but the colours have me stumped. Seems obvious, white and red right? The problem is that that has been so overdone already, would be nice to have something just a bit more unique.
Also I don't know which chapter to say they are the successors of, was thinking black templars but with the whole Grunwald thing that seems a bit off
I guess what I'm looking for is advice, feedback, suggestions for example which mk armour would fit best and how the unit selection would work, To primaris or not to etc. And of course if you like the idea.
I don't have much experience with marines, I main Necrons and have a side project of Harlequins but I want to give my custom chapter a sense of realism and decent grouning in the lore.
Any and all thoughts welcome.
