The Index Xenos 2 Errata changed the wording of the KKF to say ‘If this model is equipped with a kustom force field, friendly ORK units that are entirely within 9" have a 5+ invulnerable save against ranged weapons.’

Now, when it says "entirely within", does this mean the entire base/model of every model in the unit has to be within 9" or does it mean that only a small potion has to be within 9", so long as every model has a portion within 9"?

Entirely and wholly mean the exact same thing. It's a good question though. Certainly requires a FAQ. RAW I'd say in order to satisfy the definition of the word entirely - the whole base of a model must be within 9" to benefit. Though it is unclear if they are talking about Wholly as being "every model in the unit" or "every inch of every model".

If we fail to anticipate the unforeseen or expect the unexpected in a universe of infinite possibilities, we may find ourselves at the mercy of anyone or anything that cannot be programmed, categorized or easily referenced.

The 2 terms do not, necessarily, mean the same thing. W have a GW-definition of Wholly. Entirely within could mean "at least a sliver of every base".

Then, again, even the rulebook FAQ definition of wholly within isn't clear on full base of every model in the unit; only that the whole unit or all of the model.

We don't really know with the strange wording change combined with a clear definition of original wording.

I will play it as the same as wholly: every model in the unit must be partially within in order to gain benefit.

This is my Rulebook. There are many Like it, but this one is mine. Without me, my rulebook is useless. Without my rulebook, I am useless.
Stop looking for buzz words and start reading the whole sentences.

It means the latter... the unit is "entirely" within 9" each model satisfies "within", ie part of each model's base is within 9".

They definitely mean the same thing, however, the context of the sentence will tell you if it means the entire model or not.

A unit is "wholly" or "entirely" within a range if even one part of every model is within that range. If the benefit only gives a bonus if a model is wholly or entirely within a range, then every point of that model must be within range, not just a tiny part of it.

For it to require both would have to be specified; "Each unit with models wholly within (range) receive X benefit". would be a good example.
