Here it is, my very first painted T'au model!
Also the first model of my growing "Black Ops" army based on on all-out stealth & speed.

Yes, the main gun is missing as it's magnetised and not quite finished yet.

That looks great, very clean and tau but also the hexagon camo is super unique and the yellow trim really pops. Did you just freehand the camo?

That is one cool colour scheme! Well done.

The yellow accent is especially neat. I think it helps break it up really well.

Thanks
And no, the camo is stencilled and airbrushed. I use Anarchy Models mini-hex camo stencils and layer them for each separate colour. It can be very fiddly and tricky nonetheless though!

Thank you very much.

So many things are great with this. The scheme is perfect for the lore, and the yellow trim contrasts so well and makes the model pop that it doesn't bother me that its included in a 'stealth' pattern. The hexagon pattern is great. I can imagine the completed army in this scheme will really stand-out on the battlefield.

I also really love the style of base, any chance of a breakdown on what you did with that? Such a small and relatively plain base yet it does such a fantastic job in getting across what environment this dude is operating in.

Thanks man

The base is actually quite simple. It's a couple of layers of roughly torn cork sheeting, glued down.
Then I used PVA glue to seal it all, then gradually build up a sand/grit surface to my liking, usually around 2-3 layers. I get mine off ebay as I find most modelling sand grains too large for this sort of scale.
Then it's down to painting which i mostly do with an airbrush:
Prime black
Basecoat Vallejo Game Air "Charred Brown"
Go around edges with VGA "Beasty Brown"
Build up thin coat of VGA Beasty Brown over surface
Slowly build up VGA "Desert Yellow" around edges and cracks
Heavy drybrush with VGA Desert Yellow to pick out raised grit
Finally seal with Vallejo Polyurethane Matt varnish

Finish up with Army Painter Battlefield "Wasteland Tufts" for the grassy tufts

You love the T-Rex. Its both a hero and a Villain in the first two movies. It is the "king" of dinosaurs. Its the best. You love your T-rex.
Then comes along the frakking Spinosaurus who kills the T-rex, and the movie says "LOVE THIS NOW! HE IS BETTER" But...in your heart, you love the T-rex, who shouldn't have lost to no stupid Spinosaurus. So you hate the movie. And refuse to love the Spinosaurus because it is a hamfisted attempt at taking what you loved, making it TREX +++ and trying to sell you it.

The hex camo is cool as hell but i cant even imagine how long that must have taken to do.

Well, it's all stencilled and airbrushed, so maybe not quite as long as you might think. Although yes, it is still pretty fiddly/time consuming work with masking off other parts too.
