Picked up a small Tau unit from a source and, when I opened it, it had a couple of magnetized models.

I'd HEARD of magnetized stuff before but never seen it.

Holy cow, this is cool.

How in the heck do you get magnets tiny enough to fit on, say, a flying base to hold a model on it, or a shoulder for a battlesuit gun?

Checked my local hobby store and all they had were ones about the size of a dime, not these teensy tiny things.

Is there some secret source? Because, dude... this is all kinds of cool.

It is called Neodymium magnets or commonly known as rare-earth magnets and you can get them in nearly all sizes.
they are realy strong for thier size.

Think the smallest i have seen is 3mm x 1mm, and it is easily capable of holding a plastic weapon to a hand or a head to the torso.

You just have to search different hobby websites. i only know of 1 web shop in eu that sells them, but i dont know of any us sites that sells them so cant help you there.

I get my magnets from eBay.

That place is the harsh dark future far left with only war left.

This is where I get mine. I recommend buying in bulk, due to shipping being expensive.

Peregrine - If you like the army buy it, and don't worry about what one random person on the internet thinks.

There was just a magnet thread, on the same page here... but I like K&J Magnetics in the US. They have a great website, great products and good prices on shipping etc. I've been using them for years.

The '1/16 dia X 1/8 width' is my favorite size, the 1/16 X 1/16 is perhaps more practical for minis but my clumsy fingers prefer them slightly bigger.
