I love me some artillery. I'm even contemplating creating a fluffy artillery regiment.

I dont like the Basilisk model all that much. Personally, I prefer the Armageddon pattern from FW. There is a slight difference in the stat line (higher T and W values) however, and with that comes an increase in points. I'm fine with the stat line of a regular basilisk.

Would running a list that includes say "3 basilisks" in a tournament, yet fielding the "Armageddon Pattern Basilisk" model count as a proxy? I am assuming yes, as they are distinctively different in appearance and have a different stat line. Although their footprint, fire points, and armaments are identical. WYSIWYG would say I'm fielding Armageddon Pattern Basilisk and must use its points value and stats.

I'd say it'd be fine to use. The FW one is pretty awesome.

I would never have an issue with that.

I wouldn't worry.

You'd be fine fielding FW as regular against all but the whiniest of opponents!

For me, the joy is in putting some good-looking models on the board and playing out a fantasy battle - not arguing over the poorly-made rules of some 3rd party who neither has any power over my play nor will be visiting me (and my opponent) to ensure we are "playing by the rules"

Technically it's a different model, but before 8th it had no special rules and was purely an aesthetic alternative. You'd have to be pretty TFG to insist that it's no longer an acceptable option.

There is no such thing as a hobby without politics. "Leave politics at the door" is itself a political statement, an endorsement of the status quo and an attempt to silence dissenting voices.

I can't imagine you'd run into anyone who'd care.

If you've paid the points for it and made it clear before the game, I can't think of a legit reason anyone would have to complain. Anyone who'd get whiny about something like this wouldn't be any fun to play against.
