Hello all. I am a relatively new player and was just starting to get a feel for 7th edition when 8th edition hit me like a truck. Basically I wanted to buy a fancy ryza pattern annihilator, because of their badass look and the such. I am unsure if they are any good this edition, as I have yet to get my new books and i can't find anything on em online. Pleeeeaaassseeee tell me they work? Thank you in advance.

It's the best anti tank/MC Russ in terms of damage, so it is definitely viable. I have fielded it a few times and I find it far more effective against high toughness targets than the stock LRBT battle cannon (though the BC is more versatile).

The only downside is that RAW you can't run a tank commander annihilator but whether or not this is intended or is just an oversight is rather unclear. I tend to think it's an oversight, but it can receive orders at least which can help to mitigate the BS4+.

edit: Also welcome to the board.

I think you can mount up to 5 lascannons on that thing and basically threaten everything from terminators to Imperial Knights on the cheap. Just make sure your movements are carefully planned; hitting on 5's is ass even when you have so many shots.

Hell, I'm not that bothered by the Stormraven. Why? Because, as it stands right now, it's "limited use".When it's shoehorned in to the Codex: Space Marines, then yeah. I'll be irked.

At least the twin lascannon can benefit from grinding advance so it doesn't suffer for moving.

I don't think you can take lascannon sponsons though.

You can't take lascannon sponsons. The only difference in possible hull or sponson weapons is that the Death Korps Mars-Alpha is able to take a hull multi-melta or plasma cannon in addition to the usual selection. Not that you get those in the kit.

The Annihilator itself is the best AT Leman Russ and could be run if you wanted to.
