With the new profile under 8th edition does anyone have any advice on carnifex loadouts? I'm in the process of painting 2 of them and want to know what arms to paint (and what to ignore). I've already magnetised most of the arms (except the deathspitter arms...) I have limited time for painting so if there are some loadouts which are useless then I'll save time by ignoring them, and paint another gene stealer instead!

So far from what I've read I want to run mine super cheap as Screamer Killers. They're a solid threat and inexpensive. They'll always be a bigger distraction than a real heavy hitter though, so I like to keep them fairly minimal. Scything Talons helps with their fairly low WS

The best one is unfortunately the wrecker fex from FW. Hands down better than the index version, especially if looking at CC. Baring that, only guns worth the cost are deathspitters (devourers aren't horrible either but given the choice you take the deathspitters). Random shots and BS 4+ gimps taking the expensive cannons.

Only ccw worth it are the scything talons. Hitting on 5+ is just not acceptable after slogging around all game.

I personally like the mixed weapon approach if not using the wrecker, but I use them carnifex as line backers, meaning they are hanging back with the malanthropes and being able to affect the field in both shooting and assault is more valuable than zerg rushing.

Tail weapon is situational but generally the scythe has more play.

snoogums: "Just because something is not relavant doesn't mean it goes away completely."

Iorek: "Snoogums, you're right. Your arguments are irrelevant, and they sure as heck aren't going away."

Deathspitters with slimer maggots for shooting, Stone Crusher with Flail for melee.

Thanks people. Looks like I can leave the devourer and leave weapon arms then!

Cheers
