Ancient Venerable Dark Angels Dreadnought

So I picked up the Xenos and Imperial FW indexes, but didn't get Chaos. However, now I'm considering building an IW force and want to know what options I have that have a strong IW feel.
I already have a sicaran so I expect that is the same as the Imperial one? Points the same?
Do I have access to any siege weapons like Basilisks, Medusa etc ?
What about dreadnought options?
Just wondering if there is enough info to order the index.

You might want to look at the astra militarum book as it contains renegate AM forces with literally basilisks etc.

You'll probably want to look at options that Renegades gives you.

They do have the hellforged rapier battery, which you might like, as well as few other fitting options.
However, if you already own imperial index... yeah a spearhead detachment of artillery from R&H might work bette truth be told.

I too am interested in using the Renegades book to flesh out my Iron Warriors and make (what I feel to be) a REAL Iron Warriors army. To that end, I was trying to find some sort of review or more information about the Renegades in the AM index. What little I found indicated that the Renegades section felt pretty rushed and was really dicey. Units and options that didn't exist and other issues. Is that true? Is it worth picking up, or is it too much of a mess to bother with?

Leviathan's are so nasty: either go double Butcher Cannon battery for 16xS8, double Grav-Flux for stupid amounts of anti-tank and anti-horde or double fists for +1A and regening wounds on a 5+ for every model you kill in the fight phase (though technically this also counts for overwatch if you have 2x Heavy Flamers as well as you main weapons). The Iron Warriors' tactic means screw everyone in cover.

Hey, check the Forge World website for the Chaos Index, they have picture of the contents there, so you will know what all you have available for Heretic Astartes forces:

Iron Warriors (or any Chaos Space Marines) themselves do not have access to Medusas, Basilisks etc. but you can take them via Renegades and Heretics. For Dreadnoughts, you have the Contemptor, Deredeo and Leviathan (along with the Decimator and other Dreadnought-ish units). You should really take a look at the FW page and the contents page they are showing for both. The Chaos Sicaran is 5 points more than the Imperial one, but it is much more scary in melee and has another nifty rule for healing itself when killing units in melee.

Those are pre faq, which fixed most everything. Some of the unique units aren't great, but the stuff direct from the IG (all artillery and vehicles) works great.

Also the FW CSM dreads get the Hellbrute keyword so it can benefit from the fire twice stratagem for hellbrutes. Imagine that on Deredeo

Rapier Batteries are still probably good. The Beamer strikes me as very much like the artillery you'd want to fit such a theme.

The C-Beam Cannon isn't great. The Quad Heavy Bolter, on the other hand, is excellent.

My Iron Warriors Army is my old 30k Army so i have naturally a lot of Forgeworld, almost all of the Army so I can give you some advice:
1. Leviathans and Deredeo Dreads. They looks awesome in IW colors and they perform extremely well, you cant go wrong with these. The IW Contemptor is also really cool.
2. Fire Raptor. Expensive but great Gunship, lots of firepower.
3. Typhoon. Designed by Perturabo himself, the most IW tank there is. If you want a fitting super-heavy tank, this is it.
4. Rapier Batterys are still good, but its sad we didnt get the Mortar Version.
I also own two Legion Medusas, and tested them using the Renegade Medusa rules. Sadly, the 4+ to hit hurt them a lot, and I wasnt Impressed. I will test them as Vidicator Stand-Ins next, they only cost 130 Points in the new Codex.
If you dont want the pure Gunline Army you can also use a big unit of Cataphractii Terminators, give them Plasmas and Drop them with a Sorcerer and or Lord and Mark of Slanessh. Very very nasty with the new Codex Options.

I'd go all out with the terminator squad just for fun, max size with lord, sorcerer and mark.

Daemonic Dreadnought

Don't forget the Hellforged land raider achilles. A 48" range, no-line-of-sight-needed, mortal wound dealing gun. And potentially scary in melee.
