There are arguments abound about the effects of coffee and whether it is good or bad for you. Some reasons why you should NOT give up coffee;

1. There will be no reason to get out of bed in the morning..

2. You will get confused when cleaning your brushes as there will only be one cup..

3. You will get fat; lets face it you drink coffee to do something and no way you are replacing it with drinking water; so food will be consumed and I do not mean carrots..

4. Socialising will fail; 'chats' survive on you having a 'coffee' with friends; how will we intermingle without coffee as a catalyst?

5. All those cups will have no purpose; okay so you only have 1 cup you ever use; and there is always the paint pot option; just go with me on this one - dusty cups in the cupboard..

6. Your kids will have to find an alternative to that "World's Greatest Dad" mug they bought you as a present; do you want to increase your children's anxiety?

7. You will not get anywhere near the dollar worth of your Nespresso machine on eBay..

8. People will have to resort to drinking tea, which will involve numerous tea-time breaks during your day decreasing productivity..

9. Your buy 9 get one free card in your wallet will never see the light of day; yes I know you usually forget anyway and it's realistically about 46 coffees you have bought to get the free one, if you ever remember to claim the free one, but the idea of something for free is motivational..

10. You'll never get to finish tasting all those different liqueur coffees;
Irish Coffee (Whiskey)
Brandy Coffee (Brandy)
Cafe Mendoza (Tia Maria or Kahlúa and Tequila)
Keoke Coffee (Brandy and Kahlúa)
English Coffee (Gin)
Calypso Coffee (Tia Maria or Kahlúa and Rum)
Jamaican Coffee (Tia Maria & Rum)
Shin Shin Coffee (Rum)
Baileys Irish Cream Coffee
Monk's Coffee (Bénédictine)
Seville Coffee (Cointreau)
Witch's Coffee (Strega)
Russian Coffee (Vodka)
Australian Coffee (VB)
Corfu Coffee (Koum Quat liquor)
Kaffee Fertig (coffee with Swiss prune schnapps)
Caffè corretto (that is an Italian beverage, consists of a shot of espresso "corrected" with a shot of liquor, usually grappa, brandy or sambuca.)

5. and 6. - you can drink tea out of mugs, you know. Ask any builder.

To find out what happens when you give up coffee, I'd need to start drinking it first.

I'm definitely in the indifferent camp and could easily give it up. I love the smell, but the taste... eh.

I enjoy a cup of coffee with cheesecake or something like that after a meal, but I could do without just as easily.

I sometimes drink keurig k-cup coffee at work because I'm tired but it tastes pretty bad and I'm more inclined to drinking Monsters and other energy drinks now.

I like Starbucks lattes sometimes but I'm pretty sure those aren't really coffee, but more of a coffee-like beverage.

On the whole I'm more inclined to tea.

My mom on the other hand would straight up murder people by noon if she couldn't have coffee.

I've never drunk coffee in my life. Something about the smell, and the taste of it in things like a cheesecake or tiramisu just doesn't sit well with me.

I've been able to function just fine without coffee needing to get me boosted, and I'm not dependant on it to start my day or get work done.

I guess I would say I prefer tea, but I don't even drink tea. Not over keen on that either, leaving me with a large amount of mugs I have no need for beyond hot chocolate

So, in answer to the OP, my life would be largely unchanged if I never drank coffee

I love coffee, but I've had to temporarily give it up for a month long stretch a couple of times. When things get really stressful at work I start getting acid reflux. I start taking prescription meds when that happens, but I've found that I need to cut out the coffee for a long period of time in order to heal up.

It's awful. I would have thought that I get used to it after a week or two, but no, I'm so tired all day every day that I can hardly think straight.

I just started drinking it again after a little over a month of abstaining. I feel so much better! It makes me worried though that I'm masking over some other problem in my life that;s making me so tired all of the time.

I always tell myself that I'll just drink two cups a day, but it doesn't take long for me to start drinking way more than that. I used to drink 2-3 pots a day, but not anymore. Usually just 4-6 cups.

My many thoughts on coffee:

Against
- You try painting fine detail after some coffee... gives just enough of the shakes to drive you insane.
- Starting out, it tastes REALLY bad... now oh so good...
- Keeps you awake, at night, maybe a little too well when your body is demanding for sleep.
- Addiction, the raging headache if you do not have it.
- It is in what seems like EVERYTHING, they have tried to do studies on caffeine but cannot seem to find anyone that can avoid it completely.

For
- You can paint well into the night, time you could not have had otherwise.
- It tastes oh so good... now.
- I can wake up early, I can stay up late, hobby time is gold.
- It feels so good when you start to have that headache and then drink that cup of coffee.
- Caffeine is in EVERYTHING it seems so it is relatively easy to get that perk (hit?).

What will happen if I give it up?
I will be CRANKY due to too much sleep and not enough hobby, never-mind the initial headaches.
I would probably be fired since I could not get to work on time due to having the speed and alertness of a sloth.

So...if climate change is a "hoax", it will still have an effect on the coffee industry? Sounds like Trumpian logic to me

Drink your hot bean water, I use creamer and sugar because I love myself .

I don't drink coffee that often, to acidic, it gives me a stomach ache. I am trying to slow down on my consumption of Monster, so coffee is my go-to in those cases. But other than some people having a sensitivity to caffeine, I don't see the downside to drinking it. Black tea is equally good, if not better.

Arguably, the juice really isn't much better than soda, to be honest. Lots of sugar in it, though I'm sure you probably manage just fine since you don't drink anything else.

I'll drink coffee up to about 13:00, and then drink water for the rest of the day. If I'm staying at my parents, I'll drink it basically all day since they've always got a pot brewing for some reason. Otherwise, maybe some tea in the evening, but that's generally something herbal unless it's the weekend, then it's probably earl grey. I have sleep issues, so I don't do caffeine afternoon too much, because that will only make it worse.

I don't really drink much liquor in my old age anymore, but I do enjoy myself quite a few beers over the weekend. I have a Scotch night with my friends once a year. Also, I can and will drink a Coke or root beer maybe once or twice a month, but I really don't like most sweet things, and even then, I normally aim for the stuff with cane sugar in it rather than corn syrup. Not like it's healthy or anything, but it tastes better.

I've been avoiding soda altogether myself, slowly trying to change my diet and lifestyle to what it was when I was single.

I drink covfefe to give me the motivation to consume more coffee. Also because the alternative is too horrendous a thing to contemplate.

If I stop drinking coffee - I know the homicide rate WILL go up.
So I continue to drink the stuff, for everyone else's protection. They need me to drink the stuff, because otherwise I'll just kill the melon-fethers for being their normal stupid selves.

I don't like coffee at all. Sure, mornings suck, but it keeps my teeth healthier, it saves money, and I can just get up and go somewhere without jonesing for a mug.
