I ran 3 vindis last saterday and they did amazing. I never needed to use their linebreaker strategem but I couldn't really see any situation where I would use it. Giving up 3d3 str 10 ap-3 d6 damage shots just doesn't seem to make sense ever - even when the perfect situation arises and you can get 3-4 units. It still only goes through on a 4+ - so it's pretty low odds anyways. However - I was reading the stratagem and I found something interesting. You can use the strategem even after you advance - so it extends your threat range a little bit - and if you weren't firing anyways spending 1 CP to potentially do 3d3 mortal wounds to a few targets sounds like a bargain.

On an other note - just taking 3 vidis puts the opponent ina tough spot. They know you can use the strategem so they have to spread out - so even without using it - it was doing a lot for me. In aura 40k - I think vindis have become one of the best units in the game.

Yeah they seem okay, though i would expect most players to try and kill one on the first turn, and they are not as good as predators vs most things, so they aren't something that I've tried yet.

They aren't bad with the current price. Bombardment strategems surely has it's uses. For example vs flyers and bunched up msu. Or when you really need to down a character. Can you re-roll a 5+ with a cp?

Yes, but that's your reroll for the shooting phase

Or the opponent just kills one vindi and never has to worry about that sg again.
Don't like all the maybes attached to this unit.

Preds are on average better vs vehicals for sure. If you roll 3 shots on your D3 the vindi is better though per point. Also the possibility to have d6 shots against infantry of 5 models helps them too. The main advantage is they are T8 and they are cheap.

They are still good on their own. Also like I said in my original post - they are hard to deploy against. You are right though - a lot of maybe's attached to them. Could only get 1 shot - might never get to use the stratagem. If you were really concerned about losing one first turn you could just take 4 of them.

Basically you loose range for E8 and a bit of polyvalence vs small elite units. The d6 shots is quite good.

I think either you pick 1 or 4, 3 is quite a bad spot since you loose one and you loose the stratagem.

Altho the one thing you can do is pick 3 bait their shooting then pop the fnp stratagem.

So 1-3-4 are good but 3 is cp hungry.

You can use the strategem 1-st turn when you have to move forward to shoot to not suffer from heavy weapons too much.

Yeah - this is the main reason I posted about them. Because their range becomes less of an issue when you can advance 10+d6 and do mortal wounds. Anything bunched up is looking at 3d3 mortal wounds.
