Essentially with the release of primaris shinanigans I made a new army. And a new chapter at that!
I'd like some constructive criticism and someone to point me in the right forum to post stuff about fan made chapters.

But here it goes.
Name: Automatrons / Atomic Marines / you get the idea
Insignia: obviously the standard Trefoil Radiation symbol

History: a chapter size contingent of (insert founding chapter/legion) was drafted for an experimental battle barge design that incorporated cryo-sleep technology. Like all good experiments involving the mechanicus is ended in disaster as something broke (idk lets go with the machine spirit was corrupted by chaos) and the marines stayed locked asleep for thousands of years until ya know they just woke up but not to the Imperium they once knew.

Color scheme: I like the light pastel colors of the retro vintage era but I know that does not work well with my chosen insignia. I'm staying away from red, white, and gold as my mechanicus army is painted that way.

If there's anything I'm missing or anyone has questions just comment.
Thanks for all the help!

Nice idea! Nothing says radiation like yellow with black markings though.

Yeah but painting yellow armies is like self flagellation.

You should use a lot of terminators. The original "tactical dreadnought armour" was based off of deep salvage and maintenance suits used around massive reactors (if I recall correctly).

I am a flagellant.

Painted black with yellow radiation shoulder insignia should work.

Love the idea.
Mine own splinter group is similarly themed I guess - lost in the warp and back again.

This sounds awesome.

Incidentally, what's the problem with yellow? I've seen a number of people mention it but I'm not sure I follow.

Haha I'm not a stranger to flagellation. My aformaentioned painted mechanicus army is white.

I have thought about the black and yellow color scheme but that doesn't feel like it has enough of an ability to pop if you know I mean. However with as many people mentioning it I might do it.
Although I might take the route of a halved pattern. This might be a job for an airbrush.

As for the history/lore/models in use I did infact plan on using Terminators. Also a lot of Centurions and those new Primaris Aggressors. This chapter I feel should be descendant of the Dark Angels or the Iron Hands. Unlike other tech chapters this one abolishes the use of bionic modification instead believing that this removes the inherant zeal already found in space marines. which leads to their extensive use of mechanical assistance instead, IE: Centurion armor, Terminators, and Aggressors.

For yellow..just start with a yellow primer (Averland Sunset etc.) and go from there. Yellow has piss-poor coverage but a heavy enough purposeful primer should get you started well enough to manage it.

Blue with yellow piping? ;-)

Large white squad numbers on the backpacks?

If you don't like this suggestion let's not... Fallout over it.

Ohhhh sounds like an interesting first draft to some lore. Whats' their play style considering their history?

What about a green and yellow theme? To say something about the radiation of the chapter. It would fit well with the idea of using lighter colors too.

Or hows about a main color of dark green/yellow green topped off and highlighted ever so slightly with a neon yellow?

What fallout marines?

Would be pretty slick in chrome.

like REAL chrome.

or otherwise that ugly retro seafoam green on all appliances

i feel like the radiation symbol would be way too clique

but cant think of any other alternatives.

the chemical weapon symbol or optical radation symbol seems pretty generic enough to fit whatever you needed

This is a cool idea. I like it. You should do this.

Though do note that 'matron' has usually feminine connotations. While I think warrior women are indeed cool and mighty, spess mahreens are usually depicted as male.

Ah I see. I thank you guys for the support. I was wanting a green originally but I do like this yellow/green scheme. I agree that the symbol is cliche but oh well I like it, maybe something I'll use a stencil for with a chrome metallic highlight.

As for their play style and history. I really want a lot big marine models. Idk how the actual stats are but I wanted Primaris Aggressors, centurions and the like. The hellblasters look cool as well. Probably a really shooty army considering my admech are melee based. Maybe specializing is Las-weaponry and Plasma. Could this actually be playable?

Puns in bad taste?
Right.

As long as you use the right and bright yellows the yellow/black combo pops well.
Punch "hazard signs" and "fire extinguishers" into Google Images and you might find some great colour schemes.

I don't break the rules but I'll bend them as far as they'll go.

Yeah, shooty marines are totally playable. Las-Plas is great right now, too.

50's hardware green with the radiation symbol would be pretty dope.

I'd be tempted to go slightly more subtle in the reference.

How about "Fists of Becquerel" or something? Then, put the trefoil upside down so it's a fraction less recognisable (and easier to fit on a shoulder pad).

If you like the idea of retro then I could consider a slightly different approach - crackle paint.

Layed on thick, the cracks are large but thin like you would normally paint a shoulder pad for example, the cracks are small and would look just like something from the 50's would today. Perhaps a black background on the inner part with the bone coloured citadel texture paint over it.

Only downside - it'll make transfers harder to apply.

Oh I really like that. I didn't think of an SI approach to their name.

A very interesting idea. A crackle effect gives me a very good idea!

Automatically Appended Next Post:
For those who are interested I've made a list I'll post here and then again on the actual forum it'm goes.
This is a 100 power level list

1 Captain in Grav Armor
1 three man squad of Primaris Aggressors
1 two man unit of Honor guard
These guys would roll together inside a Repulsor transport

1 five man unit of Tartarus Terminators
Alongside a Terminator Chaplin.

1 Redemptor Dreadnought
Carrying said dreadnought is
1 Lucius Pattern Drop Pod

Holding the backfield would be 1 three man unit of
Centurion Devestators

1 Deimos pattern Vindicator Laser Destroyer
And 1 tech marine just kinda doing its thing

For a more detailed list I'll be posting on the correct forum shortly.

I'm getting a somewhat pre-heresy death guard feel. So you could consider some design influence from them. with there chemical use. Maybe use pre-heresy flamers. and mk 3 heads?

Good idea. I hadn't thought about Pre-Heresy. Perhaps with Cawl having in his posession all 20 Gene-seeds and this army being primarily Primaris Marines this is what a post-heresy death guard look like.

Name: Work in progress
Homeworld: Irrados
Chapter Master: Geiger
Founding Legion: Post-Heresy loyalist Deathguard gene-seed
Armor: A vertical halved black and yellow pattern with a green shade. Black trefoil symbol on yellow shoulder pad.
