I'd like to add a wraithknight to my eldar pretty soon, so now I need to figure out it's loadout. Last edition I would have gone straight to the sword and board, or maybe one of the skathach variants, but now I'm not quite sure. What are peoples thoughts on equipping a wraithknight in this edtion? Is the base unit better, or should I look at the skathach? What weapons are best in this new edition? Wraith Cannons, Sun Cannon or Sword and Board? Or, if the scathach is a better choice, Deathshroud Cannon, Inferno Lance, one of each, or one and a shield? What about the shoulder weapons? Last edition I probably wouldn't have bothered since they were all more expensive than if I took them on a different platform, but with the universal points costs is it worth giving the wraithknight secondary weapons, and if so which ones?
I am leaning more towards either the two wraithcannons, or the deathshroud cannons in order to give my army some heavy firepower, but I'm not entirely sure on which of those, if either of them, is better.

Wraithknights are not in a good spot for now. Wraithcannons are just mildly better than lascannons (or brightlances) and no invuln.
The suncannon is weak compared to say an avenger gatling cannon on an imperial knight while more expensive.
The glaive has a place when engaging w10+ models due to the fixed damge but against most targets, feet suffice.
For shoulderweapoms i'd go with the starcannons or scatterlasers, shuricannons can be found anywhere else and the wraithknight doesnt suffer from moving when shooting hvy weapons.
TL;DR: Don't bring a WK for competitive. If you bring it for flavor, go all the way with what you like most.

Yeah I kinda figured they're not too great at this point, but they look cool and I want one as the centrepiece of my army. Based on what you've said here, I'm thinking probably the Skathach with two Deathshroud cannons. What are your thoughts on these vs the Inferno Lances?

Wraithcannons are decent for getting First Blood but the WK is overpriced by at least 100 points as it stands. The basic WK costs 402 points before upgrade. The Imperial Knight has exactly the same stats as well as a built in 5++ save vs shooting yet only costs 320 points. The naked WK should cost around 295 points.
I would be tempted to wait until the codex drops and see what changes before making any decisions. The other alternative is to magnetise the weapon options so you can swap the loadout if the rules change.

Unfortunately, it's all to easy to have them go down in a single turn of being a bullet sponge. I don't like 1/4 of my army being like that. WK is way overcosted.

That depends on the rest of your army. For me, I have lots of Shuricannons all over my army, so double Inferno Lances is the right choice for me. Also don't forget that the Skathach WK can mix weapons, so you can have a Deathshroud cannon AND an Inferno lance. Drop in an delete what you need deleted If you are a smart player, you can drop a Skathach WK in on turn 1, kill the biggest threats to it with it and the support of the rest of your army and that gives your opponent a bad choice: Kill the WK with the remaining, hopefully ineffective, firepower OR ignore it and go for the rest of your army, The key thing to using a WK is to kill anything that does D6 damage as fast as possible. Devastators, Lascannon Predators, etc. If you can kill or severely cripple these kinds of units, then the opponent SHOULD NOT be able to take out the WK in 1 turn If, however, you a playing against a list in which almost all their units do multi-damage, than you aren't playing against a balanced list and should know from the start of the game that you brought Scissors to a Rock party. -

I did consider the mixed weapons, but as I understand it the kit only comes with one of the weapons and I can only afford one so I'd have to go with two weapons of the same type.

Why buy the kit from FW at all? The left picture (inferno lances) uses Fire Prism barrels with the muzzles of the heavy Wraithcannons, the right picture (deathshroud cannons) uses the Night Spinner deathspinners. If you really want to get one of the FW kits, you can EASILY modify the other without having to buy the second. -

That actually looks really good, especially the inferno lance. Thanks for that, looks like I'll be taking one of each. Shuriken Cannon or Starcannon on the shoulders though?

I'd go Shuricannons. Starcannons got a nerf in the FAQs (only D3 damage) and are now too expensive for what they do.

On a slightly different note, how easy is it to magnetise the the wraithknight?

Super easy, but you'll need different sized magnets for different parts.
The arms will need bigger magnets and greenstuff for fill in the gaps
The shoulder mounts should be fine with smaller magnets.

very easy, i definitly recommend to do it with a model this size(and cost).
You just add strong round magnets into the shoulder joints and another one in the right gun mount which carries the Heavy Wraith Cannon so you can swap it with the Sun Cannon.
Shoulder weapon mounts are also very easy to magnetize and the shuri/laser/starcannon barrels are almost snap-fit, no magnet needed.
I added another very strong magnet on the hip joint and another head, makes it easy to transport and you can play with it like an action figure
