I've been slowly putting together a new SW list with wolf guard as the backbone of the whole thing. I noticed the other day on the GW website that they have the sold out stamp and are lacking the "email me" icon, I assume this means the entire model range is discontinued? What do you guys think this means? Are wolf guard just getting a new look? Or are wolf guard going away all together? Should I wait for the codex before making any more purchases to a wolf guard themed army? Thanks!

It was not the Wolf Guard Terminators box.

So, what was happening is that "Space Wolves Pack" box? There were limited runs, essentially, of variations on it when the Space Wolves book came out.
We had Skyclaws, Long Fangs, and Wolf Guard.
They were just one set of the Wolf Pack sprues with some other stuff added in--Skyclaws had Jump Packs and the previous iteration of the Assault Squad sprues, Long Fangs had the previous iteration of the Devastator Squad sprues, and the Wolf Guard was just that set of sprues with no extra filling at a cheaper price point.

So if you want Wolf Guard now?
Just buy the Wolf Pack box. You get 10 models at $37 instead of 5 for $25.

I guess this is the obligatory "omg the thing is no longer sold!" thread for the week?

Sorry, just kinda jaded.

I doubt they're getting a new set. The most likely reason is because they simply weren't selling well. The Wolf Guard box set is the same as the standard Space Wolves Pack, which comes with twice the amount of parts for only a 50% increase in price. It's very likely that little to no people were buying the kit. It's most likely that GW's cleaning up their site and removing the clearly redundant choices (the Carnosaur recently became "sold out" because it was the same price as the Lizardmen start collecting set; this is an issue because the carnosaur comes in the start collecting set.

Hell, I'm not that bothered by the Stormraven. Why? Because, as it stands right now, it's "limited use".When it's shoehorned in to the Codex: Space Marines, then yeah. I'll be irked.

You'd be surprised how often sets like this sell just because someone thinks they won't need/want the extra bits.

Thanks for this info, I didn't realize such better value was staring me in the face, wish they had made this a little more straight forward.

A lot of their products are based on hoping the consumer doesn't realize that there's a better deal somewhere else (even on their own website).

A lot of people still don't realize that their one-click bundles are, 80% of the time, the exact same price as the individual models with no real bonuses to them. The ones that do have discounts often have a custom box of their own (always check those images!).

You can pretty much make any unit out of the standard box there was no genuine need to do wolfguard or bloodclaw sets.
