Deranged Necron Destroyer

Hello all,

I am currently in the process of starting a new Tyranids army. I am looking for a generic break down of tyranid and gene-stealker units as I am not to sure where to start, what to buy and what units are good to use on the table top.

I am in the Process if getting 2 start collecting boxes and a Swarm box, is there anything else I should consider getting to go with what I have listed?

Thanks in advance for your help!

I have a Youtube. Rage Against The Imperium. Here is the link if you are interested - https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC0WxDMsMyI7WcChiSfApB4Q

Nids are in a very good place ATM. Pyrovores are good finally, Biovores are downright evil and unfair (You either wound everything on a 2+ with no invul or armour saves, or you miss and get to totally block off the enemy movement), Malenthropes are stupidly undercosted and excellent synapse. Carnifexes are still great at DISTRACTION, Genestealers are hands down the ultimate close combat unit in the game, without exception. You can even ally nids with Guard now thanks to Genestealer Cult so you can take a few Baslisks for long range support. Anything a Flyrant touches will melt.

I think even though combat is essentially one and done now due to consequence free fall back, Genestealers with something providing Onslaught, along with ambushing purestrains via a GSC detachment makes them absurdly powerful.

You have a lot of models coming your way! Thankfully, Nids are fast and fun to paint.

From the models that you listed, you have a very fun and fluffy nid list.

Nids some great spells right now, a 5+ FNP, and one that allows their unit to shoot and charge if it has advance. These tools are really important for protecting a giant squad from a scary attack, or you could cast it on your distraction units
Also, smite on a flyrant with damage rending claws in CC is super gross

All you really need now are the support units that match your flavour of play.

Biovores for long range/objective camping/spore mine generation/, mawlocs and/or licktors for first turn assault possibilities... nids have a lot of fun tools to experiment with. Read through the index and let your mind wander with awesome possibility

happy hunting!

I'd say Venomthropes.

I have a big Nid collection but it was bought before they came out in plastic so I never bothered getting them as I wasn't playing 40k after their release and I'm really feeling the lack of cover this edition since Nids have a hard time fitting loads of models into one bit of terrain. After that you'd probably want loads of genestealers and and a trygon or two. On the shooting side I've heard good things about hive guard though I've not tried them myself.

Not much to add, I'd suggest a Trygon, or two for that cool Tunnel action. Having a Big Bug DS, And bring in a Brood is a powerful tool to have handy.

Good luck! And welcome to the Hive Mind!
