As part of my armies on parade idea I'm looking to make a marine sit upon a throne, does anyone have any advice on so drastically changing a marines pose?

My advice is to searcg Lord Macragge on throne and see how they did it for the original and some conversions.

The short answer to any change in pose of an armoured figure is to cut at the joints – chop at the hips and knees, cut away all the soft armour, reposition, then resculpt the soft armour.
With that said, you might be better off converting an existing figure, where possible. Depending on how you want the figure seated, you might try building from a Land Speeder pilot, or using the enthroned dead Terminator from Space Hulk.

A space marine on a throne? You could check out this classic model and find out how it was done.

That's part of the old 2nd ed SM landspeeder crew (the gunner from memory) - in case anyone is wondering.

There is also the kneeling Devastator figure and those legs. Could be converted somewhat easily.
