Welcome,

i've finally decided about my new army - csm . Here are my ( and maaany others ) basic question about buying models.
What i found and thinking about is:
-start collecting! is a good choice, should i maybe bought 2 of them ?
-dark imperium half, but im not sure of those hq, isnt only typhus and dp needed for nurgle based army ?
-buying everything seperatly
-rhino + 10csm

What do you recommend? Did i miss some of the option?

Tons of options! Older start collecting sets are still out there somewhere. Also, horus heresy box sets are a steal if you dont mind adding your own corruption and signs of heresy. Or build them as is. Also, preowned models, online discount websites like frontline games offers up to 25 percent off.

A word on the preowned models. Be aware that you may have any unknown amount of fixing and repairs with those, from paint stripping and repainting to full on rebuilding. Just know what you are getting into with that one.

If you're looking into a new army so as to play, then i recommend that you turn to secondhand models. You can get great bargains thus, you might expand you're comlection into a more consistant force quickier. If you're leaning towards painting and so on, then i would rather advice you to buy, certainly not as many models, but new one that will not have the least shortcoming (well, normally).

Also, i'm personnaly not keen on half boxed set, unless your second army are space marines, of course.

One thing I'd recommend, if it's available in your country - look for basic kits from the Horus Heresy boxed games 'Betrayal at Calth' and 'Burning of Prosperp' (particularly the latter).

Chaos Marines frequently have older equipment, as many of them are still around from those days (or have disappeared for 10,000 years and recently re-surfaced). The MkIII armour and MkIV armour types from the HH games are perfectly suited to making Chaos marine units.

It doesn't hurt that you can get those kits for very cheap on eBay (at least in the United States). You could put together an entire army for under $200 easily. You'd still need to source some vehicles etc.

Get your hands on some basic CSM models and paint them to see how you get on, CSM marines are not like loyal marines.

see how you get on with than then go from there.

if i could go back in time with new armies and not be 35 with about 10k pts of chaos with barely half painted i'd always buy then paint then buy something else.

Start collecting is a nice starting point and you can use the Chaos Space Marines to try out some different paint schemes.
I'd only by the Dark Imperium set if you want to play Death Guard, if you're not really a Nurgle fan then that set is kind of useless.
What might be a good idea is to hop onto Ebay and see if you can't pick up a job lot of Chaos stuff to get you started, then you can build your new army around that (this is what I did many years ago: I got 2 rhinos, a chaos lord, some CSM, some Havocs, some metal Terminators, some possessed and some Berzerkers).
You'll definitely want a Rhino or 2 but CSM aren't a great choice.

My suggestion: go find a job lot of CSM online, buy the CSM codex, try out a few games of 40k with some different units, read the fluff of all the CSM warbands then come back to us and we'll be able to help you further once you know: what's your favourite warband, what's your favourite units, what's your favourite play style, whether you want friendly or competitive armies, etc.

Hope this helps!

Have you considered the dark vengeance chaos stuff? There's some really cool stuff in there.

I'd go with the Betrayer at Calth box (I bought 2)

You get 40 marines, some termies, a chaplain and the comtemptor! It's a steal
