His presence in the warp will give birth to a god. The Emperor of Mankind will become the God that man has always seeked to worship. Perhaps he is a self fulfilling prophecy, and refused worship because he is truly not a god yet while residing in flesh. But once fully in the warp and powered by the worship of Man, he can manipulate it like the chaos gods and give birth to a kingdom of heaven of sorts, like in real life. Those human souls that have up until now suffered misery and torture will be saved from the warp, and those to die will find an afterlife protected by their Emperor and God.

Anyways that's my theory on what will happen if he dies, I know there's lores and rumors about this. Would anyone like to discuss?

Golden Throne powers down. Astronomicon fails. Terra is overrun by daemons.
All space travel impossible.. Imperium collapses (more)..

Warp travel won't be impossible. But you can't keep a galaxy-wide empire going with just short, calculated Warp jumps.

Probably something akin to the yncarne. At this point, there's been enough human souls who have died 'for the emperor' that he'd probably have some major god like powers.

Then again, it could be like the birth of slannesh, and destroy terra, mars, the solar system, and the majority of human-held space.

It isn't a given that the Emperor will survive the death of his body, or become a god. It isn't a given that he will be reborn or that his supposed perpetuity will restore him. That's why he is still plugged in being fed psykers every day. He is as likely to just full on die as any other potential outcome. The idea of any apotheosis could just have been a lie told to help with swaying the primarchs to turn, rather than an actual fact.

Emperor is dead - always has been. All the sacrifice done in his name is merely a control to keep people obedient to the Empire. Daemons are heald at bay through some other means on Terra.

If we fail to anticipate the unforeseen or expect the unexpected in a universe of infinite possibilities, we may find ourselves at the mercy of anyone or anything that cannot be programmed, categorized or easily referenced.

I find all these replies strangely fitting to the universe. 40k truly is grimdark. If I'm not mistaken though the possessed lady in Heretic describes the Emperor as one of the most powerful psychic potentials in existence. Actually the exact quote is "Then one of the most powerful psychic forces in the history of life..." when Argel Tal threatens to interfere with the past. The daemon also alludes to the fact that the Emperor made deals with the chaos gods, and the Emperor back stabbed them. If they are unable to deal with him in life what makes y'all think his soul in the warp will be any less potent?

Blasphemy! The Emperor will never die. He is eternal.

NO. I think if He is to die and be reborn a God that will benefit mankind more than currently, He will be the first to know, and He will do it.

The fact that He didn't after a millennia, shows that it is not the better path. He endures, because He must, there is no peace for Him.

Eh, don't worry about it. Whatever happens, he'll be alright. He's the Emperor.

I'm half convinced the emperor is actually already dead. and that what we belive is the emperor is actually the psykic gestalt of ALL the psykers, from the first taken, to Malcador, to the emperor, to the ones scarificed to the throne just an hour ago coelseceing around the golden throne.

Opinions are not facts please don't confuse the two

Several possibilities are hinted at in the fluff. The Emperor might be physically reincarnated due to being a Perpetual. He might ascend to full-on Godhood as the Numen. He might disintegrate back into the shaman souls that originally came together to form him. Or he might just end up dead!

One thing that seems likely is that Daemons would overrun Terra if there was even a brief interruption of the Golden Throne which would like be catastrophically bad news for the Imperium. Without the Astronomicon and Astropaths, the Imperium could no longer exist and would basically fragment with individual parts falling prey to the various threats of the Galaxy (a repeat of the Old Night).

One thing to bear in mind is that the one being in the 40K-verse who knows most about what the Emperor is and how he works is the Emperor himself. In his audience with Roboute, he categorically did not ask for the plug to be pulled on him. This suggests that whatever the outcome would be, it would likely be worse than his continued imprisonment on the Throne.

Food for thought.

The most likely possibility: The Emperor will remain as a corpse lord. This is bad news for the traitors and heretics. He's still more than so called chaos "gods" can handle.

The least likely possibility: The Emperor will ascend. This is the death of chaos.

Well first Terra will explode due to Magnus cocking up the Webway portal. Then the Imperium will collapse into small states due to the lack of long range travel and communication. Then everyone outside of Ultramar will die, then Ultramar will die. Then all humanity will die, and then 3 of the Chaos Gods, addicted to humanity, will die, then Slaanesh and Cegorach will spend eternity flirting with each other until all the Eldar die.

Then Orks and Tyranids will fight each other until the entire milky way becomes naughty but a sea of Ork and Tyranid bodies.
