Subject: Better Option: Regular Terminators vs. Cataphractii Terminators?

Hey mates. Building a Crimson Fists Army atm and I plan on fielding a 10x-manTerminator Squad to act as a Command Squad for my Captain in Terminator Armor, but I do have a question about that. When it comes to Terminators, are the regular Terminators the way to go or are Cataphractii Terminators the better option in 8th? Plan is either:
* 10x Terminators:
w/2x Cyclone Missile Launchers, SB
* 10x Cataphractii Terminators:
w/4x PF, Combi-Bolter, 5x Lightning Claw, Combi-Bolter
Thoughts?

From what I've been seeing, cyclone launcher has been underperforming. It looks good on paper but I keep hearing people saying they never hit anything

I'd go with the Cataphractii since they are more survivable. Termies should enter cc during the game. As a purely shooty unit, its too expensive.

I like Cataphractii terminators, but their weapon options are fairly limited. I take them to provide a durable shooty unit that can drop with a character to provide a solid defence for them.

Termis suck, especially assault. Deepstrike, fail the 9" charge, you do 0 damage. To get closer they need a transport, which might get destroyed before your termis get close. Even if you make the charge and do some damage, everyone will move away from you. And because you are slow, only 5" movement, the catas only 4", you will never reach anything.

Catas are just too slow. Their movement is lower, their Advance is halved, and they can't get a Teleport Homer to zip home at a moment's notice and defend your back line.

You've not used the Black Templar version then if you're constantly failing the assault.

My tactical termies have been performing very well, with your command point re-roll they regularly make the charge, and there's a decent amount of things you can do to further increase those odds. I would say they've made their points back every game I've used them, even as a distraction from other things.
You need to know what targets to use them against though. MCs and vehicles have been the best targets for me, firing them at some chaff, then getting the PF hits on the vehicles or MCs, backed by a chaplain in termie armour kills things dead.

Sounds like you are either very lucky or you always spend a cp to reroll a die for the charge roll. Or can you reroll the entire charge roll ?
