So I don't really get list building in 8th, like at all. I play Dark eldar or the "drukhari" and I've always been on the mindset of if I wanted to take say craftworld I would need to take a detachment with nothing but craftworld units in it. That was how I have been building all of my lists but I was talking to this guard player who says he can take someone like ST. celestine in his lists without a detachment because she shares the Imperium keyword.
I have 2 questions:
1. my DE as an example I can take any units in my army as long as they share the key word Aeldari? for example a Battalion detachment with a farseer, an archon, and a troope master, they all share the aeldari keyword so that is a valid list?
2. If I take that battalion list above do the faction specific abilities still work, such as battle focus for CW, Power from pain DE, and Rising cresendo?
Sorry if this a obvious question but I'm still trying to figure out what works in 8th.

1. Yes you can take that army if you want. They are all eldar so it's fine now.
2. No, when you mix eldar and dark eldar together into a detachment then they lose all special rules that require the detachment to be from a specific faction. So if you add an avatar to your dark eldar list you lose power from pain. It's the trade off.
This is why when people want to play both eldar and dark eldar at the same time they play ynnari, to get a special rule as well as play pretty much what they want. It's the eldar eating their cake and having it too.

I do not think that is quite correct. My understanding is that you still retain the rules however you will find that the synergies are not there because one part of the army is using the <craftworld> & Asuryani facton and the other is using <Kabal> and Drukhari faction. Most notable are the Psychic Powers of the Asuryani can not be used on the Drukhari.
This is also a problem with Using multiple Heroes as they may actually be from different factions causing some special powers to only target the one of the factions.
Ynnari Army actually replaces the Ancient Doom, Battle Focus, Rising Crescendo, Power from Pain with Strength from Death and givens them another faction name (including all the others).
However the problem with of psychic powers can not be used on another faction is still there.

I thought if they were mixed into a single detachment then you lose any faction tactics. If you have dark e in a detachment and eldar in a separate detachment then they'll keep said tactics.
So for example if you mix an ultramarine hq charecter into a detachment of salamanders you lose your chapter tactics for salamander. If you instead put the ultramarine hq into a separate detachment with a few scout squads to make it a true separate detachment then they get the ultramarine tactics and the salamanders keep theirs.
That's how I thought it worked with eldar / dark eldar as well.

If and when Dark Eldar get Wych Cult Tacitics, Kabal Tactics and Eldar Craftworld Tactics - this would apply - the abilities you are looking at are base - like ATSKF for Marines - its always there - well unless you take a Ynnari army

1) You can take these 3 in a Battalion Detachment, remember you need to include some troops as well, the Battallion has a mandatory troupe requirement, but they can be any Aeldari troops you like!
2) Yes! You get to use your faction specific abilities as they do not require pure detachments, unlike those of some other factions. They simply apply to any models with those rules, so you keep Power From Pain on, say, Kabalite Warriors and Battle Focus on, for example, Guardians.

Indexes are flexible with the rules and don't have any limits for the special rules when taken together.
Space Marines are different because the codex is out and the rules for Chapter Tactics are specifically limited by the rule listed from them.
