In My Lab

So, this came up in a game recently. I was playing on a three man Imperium team, versus Chaos, Necrons, and Tau. I charged into some Necrons who were near a Broadside, and the Tau player claimed he could use "For The Greater Good" to overwatch with the 'Crons.

Checking the rules, it just says "Friendly units", so I didn't bother arguing the point.

Was this valid, by RAW?

Clocks for the clockmaker! Cogs for the cog throne!

Multiplayer games have only the most basic of token rules and are pretty much "make it up as you go along." Team games don't even have real rules.

No-one who isn't trying to be WAAC could argue Necrons benefit for the Greater Good in my humble opinion.

Vanished Completely

Indeed, there are no Rules telling us how to handle games of more then 2 players.

In this sort of situation, it doesn't even need to be a Friendly Unit targeted in order to evoke this Rule. All it requires is that a Unit has been targeted for a Charge within 6 inches of this Unit, nothing about friendly or enemy because this action would always be against a friendly Unit within a default game. So, in a 1 v 1 v 1 game, if someone Charges into a Unit that was getting into position to charge a Unit with this Rule could trigger an interesting situation. One could choose to assist the enemy being Charged, and if your lucky you might even manage to foil the Charge well enough that the grateful enemy reward you with a stab to the face on their next turn!

8th made it so I can no longer sway Tau onto the side of Chaos, but they will eventually turn aside from their idea of the Greater Good to embrace the Greatest of pleasures.
