I've been trying to paint black marble and am not quite satisfied with the results. First I tried adding colour variation by adding random stains of different shades of grey, then adding streaks. Then I tried stipiling with a sponge, then adding streaks, but was not satisfied with that either. Now I'm considering just shading it normaly and adding streaks. Anyone got advice? Black marble seems different to other kinds of marble.

Base white. Take incubi darkness and thin it down to translucency. Apply to the model in thin overlapping staggered coats until the level of darkness is achieved. Gloss coat it.

Looking at images of it, there is a lot less translucent blending compared to white marble.

Id say prime white, liquid mask it with very thin lines. then prime or air brush black over that. then remove the mask. use a thin glaze of black wash to tie in some areas but make sure some areas are full white.

then gloss varnish.
