Hi,

Having only played admech so far id like to go for a more melee strong army next.

Ive decided i really would like to go for chaos daemon (khorne) based army but with csm detachment. Mainly thinking khorne berserkers, helbrute and daemon prince for the csm but not decided on the daemon side yet, hovering around bloodletters, bloodcrushers, soul grinder and khorne bloodthirster and herald as hq.

Am i heading in the right direction and has anyone had much success with a melee based chaos army in 8th?

Khorne Bezerkers are amazing, Bloodletters are good but squishy, bloodcrushers the same, helbrute can get amazingly blenderrific if you take the scourge..

Soulgrinders tend to be better for ranged, and which bloodthirster are you looking at for an HQ?

Thanks, i might re think the bloodcrushers then, i was originally going to go purely daemon but I think that against a strong shooty army they woukdnt last too well?

I am looking at the wrath of khorne bloodthirster at the moment.

Daemons used to be exceptionally fast, with a majority of their book having a 12" speed. I havent given the entire daemon set a once over, but I would imagine it is at least somewhat still there. Being able to pressure your opponent with 5-6 charges on turn 2, or even 1 is what daemons used to be about. Give them so many threats that must be killed ASAP that some of them will make it, and then you can tear your foes apart.
