Hey everyone

Not 100% sure if this thread belongs here but hope I can get some help, iv literally just got into warhammer and really like the daemonettes (want to start an army of them) but have some questions that I hope I can get answered...

- is there any books (codexes, novels, graphic novels, etc) about daemonettes? Would like to know more about their history, lore, appearance, behaviour (basically everything) aswell as the major characters and 'main' daemonettes. Doesn't seem to be anything other than fragments here and there.

- Theres two major 'units' called the 'alluress' and the 'herald on steed' but there is no model available of these to buy, but they seem to be mentioned in all references to their army, are these models something you'd make yourself from converting or something?

- And is there any rules for converting or using alternate models than the standard Ines in games workshop? Id want to make my daemonettes unique looking and much more feminine, so if conversions are ok is there specific shops you can go or do you just have to buy other model kits from games workshop or forge world and just use the bits I want? Don't want to make an army and be told can't use them cos the bits are not right...

Any help much appreciated

You build Alluress and heralds on steeds using seekers of slaanesh kit.

You can convert models but keep in mind that games workshop stores won't let you use other miniature companies models in there store.

if you want feminine daemonettes either try and get Juan Diaz metal daemonettes (very expensive and hard to find) due to the high demand for them, or alternatively convert witch elves into Daemonettes which is what I did for all my alluress on foot so they stand out from the regular daemonettes.

I can throw you some links that provide information, and they have references as well so you can track down the books if so interested. Not a great deal of graphic novels that i'm aware of, but others might be able to help you out in that respect.

the god slaanesh: http://warhammer40k.wikia.com/wiki/Slaanesh

daemonettes themselves: http://warhammer40k.wikia.com/wiki/Daemonette

hope this helps

The HH book Fulgrim, and the BL book Daemonworld showcase some Slaaneshi warbands. The Wordbearer novels have their share of daemonology too.

There is an old out of print series called "Liber Chaotica" There was one for each god, and a compilation that included a 5th book.

Look for Liber Chaotica: Slaanesh. Should have some good lore about daemonettes, and slaanesh in general.

For Slaanesh lore, you could do a lot worse than try and pick up Realm of Chaos: Slaves to Darkness, from the late 80s. All the original background for Slaanesh (and Khorne), right from the beginning. Not that much has changed, but some of the less family-friendly aspects of Chaos (particularly Slaanesh), while not ever having been fully removed, have been slightly obfuscated in more recent times. Still reckon this book's one of the best ways to get the full-fat version.

The older. out of production (OOP) metal models might be nice where you can find them; they look more feminine and graceful compared to the new ones but they will probably cost much more.

Raging Heroes also makes some possible alternative demonettes.

I also like Daemonettes - though I am aware of persistent rumours that GW will Squat them in the future due to their sexual nature (mind you that rumour has been around for about 5 years...we might know more when (if) a Daemons codex gets released)...

I do not even think GW is crazy enough to drop one of the chaos gods at this point, the chaos gods are way to intertwined with the entire plot.

For alternative models, Raging Heroes is a good source, but that's a no-go if you play at GW stores and events that require GW models.
