I was thinking about getting the Possessed and Daemon Prince box for my Khorne army, but I was wondering. I already have a handful of Melee Chosen and a bunch of Beserkers, is there much of a point to taking Possessed, or is it just more of vaguely the same thing?

Possessed have more wounds making them arguably more resilient than beserkers in a game. But honestly if I saw you had a squad of Possessed and a squad of beserkers both coming at me I would shoot the beserkers, their ability to swing twice in close combat is pure nasty compared to Possessed.

Having said that, I have a squad of Possessed and they do well for me, I like the randomNess of their attacks. I would take them before taking mutilators for sure.

Berzerkers are much better in terms of damage output.

The strength of Possessed is their durability rather than their output.

I think Possessed are much better when there is a Sorcerer that buffs them with one of the god-specific spells, which makes them much tougher. That is more or less the only thing they can do that Khorne Berzerkers can't.
When they are EC, you can use the excessive violence stratagem rather than the Khorne stratagem, The Khorne stratagem might be a waste if you roll 1A per model while the EC stratagem is safer because you can roughly guess how many bonus attacks you will get. And it costs only 1 CP instead of 3.

I've always liked the possessed. Although admittedly I haven't used them in 8th yet. I'm gonna try and get a game in this weekend and try them out.
I love that they have 2 wounds and invuln. Makes them not as squishy. Plus their infantry so they get +1 atk on the charge in a WE list.
