Hi guys just a quick one, I stopped playing matches back in 2010 and am planning a comeback, just to brush up could the following be used in the same force:

- 20 Space Marines
- 100 Guardsmen
- Inquisitor Lord (HQ)

Or how can I field Space Marines alongside Astra Militarum?

Yes, they all share the same keyword ("Imperium"), and can therefore be used together

Be careful, however, that some abilities (like auras) only work for specific units. And transports specifically say what type of units can embark in them (no Space Marines in Chimeras, for example)

Yes.
More efficient if organised into same faction detachments but you can made an army with just IMPERIUM as the common keyword.

You definitely can, but you'll need to play with detachments to get all of the special rules in.

You'll need a Space Marines detachment to use Chapter Tactics. Your whole army can just be "Imperium", but to use Chapter Tactics you need a detachment with every unit being "Space Marines"

That means you'll need a space marine HQ. Captains aren't too many points and are good. Right now there are no specific Guard rules that require you to have nothing but IG in a detachment, but there probably will be when their codex comes out.

Something like:

Space Marine Patrol Detachment

1 SM HQ
1-3 SM Troops

Other stuff if you get them

Imperium Battallion

Inquisitor Lord HQ

3-6 Imperium Troops(Guardsmen Squads for you)

Later on if IG get regiment rules like Chapter Tactics you'll need to get an IG HQ as well, like a cheap commander, and move the Inquisitor to another detachment.

The easiest way to do that would probably to run a Vanguard Detachment(1-2 HQ, 3-6 Elites) with an Inquisitor and some random Imperium Elites, like assassins or something.
