My army list is primarily an Iron Hands successor chapter, with an Imperial Knight ally. However, I'm wondering if I might not get the same benefit (pretty much) with more wounds and better tactical advantage from swapping out for an Imperial Guard battalion.

The Winter Soldier is my Imperial knight, I kit him out as a Crusader with Avenger Gatling cannon and Rapid Fire Battle Cannon, and ironstorm rocket pods.

The Imperial Guard battalion I'm considering replacing him with would be:

Tank Commander (LRBT, 3x heavy bolters, heavy stubber)
Platoon Commander
3x infantry squads
Leman Russ Battle Tank (3x heavy bolters, heavy stubber)

I'm not decided yet on which is the better choice. The Tank Commander giving orders to another LRBT is a great thing, and the commander himself hitting on 3's is as good as the Winter Soldier. Plus the Infantry Squads provide bubble-wrap and objective holders that the Winter Soldier does not. However, the Imperial Knight is more intimidating, and likely to draw more attention. Plus, while it has fewer total wounds, it has the 5+ invulnerable save to shooting attacks, and can make hash out of infantry units in close combat with its Titanic Feet.

Thoughts on the issue?

Okay, I was trying to keep it short so that it wouldn't be too complex. But the rest of the army list looks like this:

Space Marines Battalion

HQ
Chaplain
Lieutenant

Troops
5-man tac squad, sgt has boltgun and chainsword
5-man tac squad, sgt has boltgun and chainsword
5-man tac squad, sgt has boltgun and chainsword, flamer

Elites
Vanguard vets 3x plasma pistol/Power sword, 2x TH/SS

Heavy Support
Land Raider Crusader
Cent. Devastators w/Lascannons and missile launchers

Flyers
Stormtalon with Typhoon missile launchers

I use the Imperial Knight as firepower and try to get him into close combat range with mid-level stuff so I can squish lots of things. I just wonder if the Imperial Guard Battalion will be a more durable and flexible source of firepower. If so, will that outweigh the fact that, with the knight gone, the Centurion Devastators will probably draw lots more attention?
