Can I take heads from the nobz set and glue them onto terminator armour as a form of looted meganob?
Using the meganob stats and everything

In terms of both rule compatibility and if it's possible to fit Nob heads on terminators

Go for it. Orks and looting go hand in hand. Plus, custom converted stuff for Orks is always more interesting to me than the out-of-the-box stuff. I'd say you may want to do a bit more than just stick the heads in though, cause that will stand out a bit.

Maybe think about hacking the Terminator armour up a bit more and adding Orky features here and there. Maybe Google has some examples?

Best of luck.

A. Everything is possible with enough green stuff and glue.

B. I'd avoid just a straight head swap (and I say this as somebody who despises WYSIWYG). Maybe add some Ork weapons (power klaws, etc.) and symbols to spice them up. Ork kits contain more bits than you know what to do with. Also it would be pretty rad if you could see some green Ork flesh through parts of the armor too.

Rule compatible? Maybe. Can you do it? Of course! Would it look good? No. Not at all.

Maybe with one or both of the arms replaced with Nob arms that have armour bolted on

I'd personally stay away from those. The proportions are way off. Ork legs are much shorter and wider. Theres no way they'd fit in those teeny tiny 'oomie pantz! Thats herorksy!

I'd sell those termies and get some proppa stuff to build custom models like every good ork player should. Get yourself some Plasticard and build something like this:

Dats how a proppa meganob lookz like!

A straight head swap? No. But if you got creative maybe.

I'd use parts from different models and paint them in the style of 3+ chapters. Then, once they looked like a good piece from a marine of that chapter, I'd add in some serious battle damage. If you can attach shoulder pads to odd places on Ork bits that would be fantastic too. The more pieced together it looks the better.

The Ork/marine you linked looks way too clean to me. Like a marine put on an Ork mask for Halloween, but couldn't bare to mess with his armor.

The plasticard meganob picture above reminded me of a great ork tip for beginners - rivets. Orks rivet everything. Welding is so last year.

Go buy a thin solid plastic rod from the hobby shop, use an exacto to cut small disks, stick the disks with the tip of the knife to lift, dab a tiny bit of Tamaya extra thin cement on plastic surface and touch the rivet to it. Should stick real good.

Thanks guys, and I'm open to any names for these space marine meganobz

Currently I've had
Tactical dreadnorks
terminatorks
Gorks Klaws (instead of imperial fists)
Fire squigs (instead of salamanders)

I dunno I kinda like the TerminOrk. Course yeah you'd want to gussy it up with lots of stuff as mentioned above.

I'd check and see if you can fit Ork arms on tho, like for a killsaw, n stuff like that instead.

Kromlech makes some excellent bits if you want to go thirdparty as well (check bitsofwar.com)

Otherwise, yeah the legs aren't quite right, not sure how you could go about fixing that, maybe cut em down some but that does get quite involved.

You could maybe replace them as well.

One thing for sure, even though Orks loot *everything* no way would they leave the insignia on unmolested. You'd definitely want to cut/grind it off - but maybe leave some cuz it's not like Orks would want to necessarily be clean about it, they just wanna deface it and put their own version up (imo anyways)

good luck!

If you google terminator mega armour you will see there are good and bad versions of this.

Try to work out what makes the good ones good. Cos the bad ones look kinda terrible.

I'm not a fan and tried something similar when I started the hobby some 20 odd years ago.

It's worth your effort to make something that will look even remotely realistic.

To be honest, a grot piloting a suit of terminator armour would look cooler and make a lot more sense!

I wanted to make some more meganobz a while back and didn't want to shell out again for another box of them. As they are pretty expensive on a per model basis. However the kit i had already bought had come with a bunch of extra bits. I got my self the box set of orruk brutes instead where you get 5 models and did some really simple conversions (below). Although the brutes are a little under-armoured compared to meganobz I've never had a complaint about improper models and most people actually really like them. I think terminators would look a bit strange but give it a shot and see. Don't forget to report back to us how it went! =)

How does the Brutes' size match up with the meganobz? I've been wanting to do that conversion for a long time (to make some BULLYBOYZ) but I could never find a comparison.

I certainly like the look better; they look more like Ork Terminators.

Hell, I'm not that bothered by the Stormraven. Why? Because, as it stands right now, it's "limited use".When it's shoehorned in to the Codex: Space Marines, then yeah. I'll be irked.

I would definitely try to ork up the terminator armor more than just a head swap. The plasticard mega armor linked above is pretty great, but would be tricky for a beginner to pull off.

However, if you started with terminator armor, used some plasticard and added extra armor, iron gobs, klaws from the nob set, you could have something pretty nice.

A little creativity goes a long way with orks, but definitely put in a little more effort than just head swapping. You'll be glad you did!

A straight head swap might look top heavy. I'd add a bit more to the Terminators to bulk them up a bit (I appreciate that straight head swaps are never a perfect fit, but with the way the two kits are design the head will be poking out and may look jarring).
