I have these models, and I have no idea what they are. I think they are dark eldar, from '98. The metal name plate says something like 'svbrrite'. Ideas?

I don't want the best army, just one that isn't an exercise in picking up my models by turn 3.

It doesn't matter if you're not dominating the game; if you have 3-4 x as many models and options than the rest of us and you're still getting new kits, we're still gonna rip on the faction. If I had 100 + Drukhari kits all in plastic to choose from, or 100 + Sisters kits, I think I'd be more likely to be receptive to Space Marine player's complaints about anything.

Yes, a Dark Eldar Sybarite. I think they're a squad leader of Kalbalites, IIRC?

They/them

Those are old Sybarite models for Dark Eldar.

Back in those days a Sybarite was like a Space Marine Captain or Archon Jr. They were a lesser hero level character.

Nowadays they are just the unit champion for Trueborn.

You can use them for pretty much whatever you want. They could be an archon too for all intents and purposes.

Ahhhhhhh. Sorry, the index doesn't have them listed in the back for whatever reason, and I'm not familiar enough with our dark brethren to recognize them off hand. Thanks!

Actually (and this is me being pedantic) the Captain or Archon Jr. was called the Dracon in the 3E book. The Sybarite was a Sargent equivalent (had his own blister too).

Beat me to it. Have an exalt.

What you're looking at is basically a sergeant for a kabalite warrior squad. The dracon doesn't really have a model and is the squad leader for a trueborn squad. The old sybarites are also some of the models that I personally feel have aged pretty well.

ATTENTION
. Psychic tests are unfluffy. Your longing for AV is understandable but misguided. Your chapter doesn't need a separate codex. Doctrines should go away. Being a "troop" means nothing. This has been a cranky service announcement. You may now resume your regularly scheduled arguing.

They look excellent. They will make great a great addition to my budding DE force.

An understandable mistake they have messed with old DE terminology a lot. They used to Archon, Dracon, Sybarite for the Kabalite equivalent of Chapter Master, Captain, Sergeant and Archite, Drachite, Succubus for the Wych cult equivalent.

Ironically, I got a 3rd DE codex in the mail with an ebay lot the other day, so now I see what the deal is.
