Going through the codex/index, I can't help but wonder. What kinds of lords do other people use? I personally like lords on foot, so they can slog with the zerks. I'm also a fan of daemon prince and terminator lords.

My opponent likes daemon princes. He puts wings on them mostly. But then uses that mobility to take advantage of cover while the zerkers run up the field.

Even if you give your lord a jump pack for that higher movement, there is no reason they still can't slog with your zerkers. But if your Zerkers get shot to gak, it means he can easily retreat!

Why Aye Ya Canny Dakkanaughts!

I have a Termie Lord that can drop down with my Plasma Termies for those much needed re-rolls, my Zerkers get a DA instead for the full re-rolls.

Also having a Termi lord in reserves gives you something nasty to deepstrike with more tactical flexibility, since you can drop him wherever you can make the best use of his aura ability and with clever maneuvering, set himself up to make a charge next turn, like behind an advancing berserker blob with an advancing gun line behind him! Timing would be key to make sure you don't drop him, then end up with his screen getting into combat, leaving him a tasty target in the open.

It's also helpful to give him Talisman of Burning Blood as well so that you have a better chance of getting off that 9" charge and, once he's been down for a turn, helps him move about quicker with 5" +d6" +2d6" threat range.

Malific Lords seem to be the go to Lord unit in Competitive builds...

silly unit it for its cost.

How about Juggerlords? Those seem nasty on paper.

Eh, they're ok. They don't have the same utility that a Terminator Lord has and is more expensive than a DA for re-rolls.

And even as purely for damage output and not a supporting unit he's meh:
Take a Power Fist and a Lightning Claw, that is now either 5x S10 AP-3 Dd3 or 5x S5 AP-2 D1 re-rolling to wound with 3 extra S7 AP-1 D1, which is nice but I think there are harder hitters in the codex/index and I'd prefer the utility of a HQ than the punching power.

I see, so most people use their lords for utility over combat prowess. With the exception of princes.
