Hi All,

I'd like to build a Thousand Sons 40k army exclusively using the Burning of Prospero (or FW 30k) miniatures. I will also be ordering a Horus Heresy Magnus model to keep it consistent.

My questions/dillemas though:

  • Has anyone tried this before, and if so, how did it fare?

  • The biggest problem I see is the special weapons (warpflamers and soul reapers). Would just the 40k bits of those weapons work on the Prospero 40k minis or is there a better alternative method for this?

  • I've looked for a clear pictures, but couldn't find one: What is the size comparison of FW Magnus vs GW Magnus? I don't want to use a super smaller model, though I'm sure my small playing group of friends won't mind. Any ideas on how to make his size bigger (at least height)? Diorama piece? Epic tall base blasting down space pups? Anyone have art or conversions for inspiration?

  • Thanks!

I'm sure people have done this and it wouldn't be difficult by any means. Using the 40k weapons would be best for WYSIWYG.

I think the 30k Magnus is significantly smaller than the 40k version, so that's really the only sticking point I see.

These are my opinions. This is how I feel. Others may feel differently. This needs to be stated for some reason.

Yeah, they're a shade smaller than Primaris. I don't see that as too big of a deal, though. Someone complaining that your Rubricae are 5-10% too small is a whole different animal compared to someone noting that your Magnus is about half the size he should be

I think they look the part

As you note the trick is special weapons etc, FW do a suitable weapons pack though thats probably worth going for if you want it.

Obviously you don't need the HH era colours.

They may be slightly smaller than the rubric models, but frankly they look miles better

I've seen them done like this a few times, a guy at my local store does exactly this. As for weapons, flamers and Rotor cannons would work fine to get the point across. The only problem people might have is that the 30K Magnus is a lot smaller than the 40K one. So he'd be easier to hide and put in cover. Plus the 30K you'd need to give him some wings of something to account for his Fly keyword.
