Hey guys i'm a returning 2nd edition player and am having some trouble in 8th. Loving 8th edition but need to get up to speed. Im down 1/3 against my brothers Tyranids.

1500 point games.

His army

3 units of genestealers. I think 30 in size.

3 brood lords

3 flyrants.

He deploys in a mass swarm on the front edge of deployment zone. His low unit count gives him first turn. He rushing the fast flyrants near anything that can shoot. They tie me up for a turn then his genestealer swarm charges on turn 2. (move 8 plus advance plus charge).

I think my army build is wrong and I need some deployment advice.

My army, Blood Angles.

Lemartes and sanguinary priest

30 DC with chainswords and jump packs in 2 units

10 tac marines with 2 storm bolters in 2 units.

5 Rievers just cause they are so Blood Angel. I think I may need to drop these guys for this match up.

1 basic Dreadnaught with Assault cannon and dual auto cannon. I did try him with heavy flamer and power fist also.

1 razorback with dual assualt cannon, storm bolter and HK missle.

10 Devastators in 5 man teams. 2xLascannon 2xHeavy Bolter with Cherub.

Want to keep the DC if possible for fluff reasons, everything else is up for grabs. Would really appreciate some build tips and deployment tips. Need to get some wins on the table!

Max unit size for stealers should be 20.

Are you opposed to allying in other Imperium stuff? A Wyvern or two or the points equivalent in mortars ought to shred the stealers from a distance. A cheap 30 man unit of conscripts with a Commissar (121 points) could at least hold the first charge (still going to get annihilated on that charge, but if you space things right, your army gets to shoot/charge the bugs that wiped them.

Staying within BA, maybe drop the Dread and Pred and one of the Dev squads and sub in a Stormraven (not sure on the points)? The flyrants can still engage it, but you should be able to outrun them while avoiding contact with everything else. You can toss the tacs/characters in there and drop them off on objectives as you kite the flyrants around the board. As long as he doesn't completely wipe your ground forces, the Stormraven should be able to give him a hard time since his only current answer is the flyrants.

As for deploying, remember you can measure distances whenever you want. Figure out the max charge range of his units and space your stuff out appropriately.

I think your simplest answer is a screen of Scouts. That'l get you a turn or two of shooting. Also Vehicles, Nids don't like to bite Vehicles.

Well, I played a lot of times vs. Nids with Genestealers over all the previous edition - mostly with Eldar or DE.
You need firepower and mobility to shoot them. This is easier with a swift army than with a Marine army.
You need to pick your fight. Overwhelm the enemy. Its not an easy task. But DC with jump packs can do it. Razorbacks with assault cannons are one of the best shooty tanks in the game. A Stormraven could also be an option.
