Just wondering what those of you who use Martian Ironearth, Ironcrust, or similar 'red world'-style basing strategies use for dust and mud. I mean that vehicles and the boots of individual marines presumably would get a touch dusty or muddy... for a dusting effect that is reasonably light, what would you recommend? Ryza Rust?

Look into weathering pigments such as Mig, Vallejo, Secret Weapon, etc

Weathering pigments is probably what you want.

though you will need to seal your miniatures after application

I'm using Vallejo Oxyd paste, I also got some Ammo of Mig Jimenez light rust weathering pigment, though I've yet to try it.

Weathering pigments all the way. Note that if you're just dusting the legs/lower parts, you probably don't need to be super zealous about sealing them(you don't go around touching the legs of your miniatures, do you?).
