Subject: Dealing with an Obelisk as CSM?

I play Khorne, and somebody in my playgroup loves to use their Necron Obelisk. Like, anything 1000p and above, its there. I havent faced it yet, but when the time comes what is the best unit in CSM to deal with that floating death cube?

My first instinct would be melta bikers, las preds and Landraider. Beyond that the blood slaughterer is friggin amazing at killing armor. But that's going into FW stuff. Also, greater daemons would probably work. Skarbrand is a beast, I saw a battle report where one took out a stormsurge with ease.

Lord of Skulls could lay some hurt as well if you can get the charge off - isn't the axe D6 dmg a hit?

"Courage and Honour. I hear you murmur these words in the mist, in their wake I hear your hearts beat harder with false conviction seeking to convince yourselves that a brave death has meaning.
There is no courage to be found here my nephews, no honour to be had. Your souls will join the trillion others in the mist shrieking uselessly to eternity, weeping for the empire you could not save.
To the unfaithful, I bring holy plagues ripe with enlightenment. To the devout, I bring the blessing of immortality through the kiss of sacred rot.
And to you, new-born sons of Gulliman, to you flesh crafted puppets of a failing Imperium I bring the holiest gift of all.... Silence."

It's straight 6 damage in smash mode, and d3 in slash mode.

Even better! Rumble up the field blasting away infantry with the cannons and then charge the obelisk. if they insist on a LOW in 1000 pts I'd have no problem doing this.

I don't have myself a Lord of Skulls, but I DO have a Renegade Paladin, so maybe that Reaper Chainsword will give me a fighting chance. Super heavy vs super heavy!

Does the obelisk have the special necron vehicle rule that allows you to ignore damage if you roll below the damage on a D6? that may cause some issue with the suggested methods if it does.

No, it doesn't. Super heavy vehicles and the monolith don't have that rule.
Also, as superheavies go the obelisk isn't particularly strong. It might be big and scary looking, but it only brings a bunch of tesla (so no AP) and a situational ability that procs only on a 1 against flyers.
It's also terrible in CC, so a knight vs obelisk fight will be horribly onesided. It can fly, but I don't think its airborne. It should be airborne though, I mean, look at it, its off the table.
