As the malefic lord has no official model, I have been using the an age of sigmar necromancer, as seen here. I would rather not use the rogue psyker as suggested since I may actually use those units in my army, these cost the same and I believe are the same size. https://www.games-workshop.com/en-US/The-Deathmages-Necromancer-2016

I would be fine with it.

Thanks, trying to see if this would encounter resistance in a tournament, i'm still a new player but I know people dislike this unit as it is (if complaints here are any gauge) and don't wanna run into any "you can't do that!" type of arguments. I'd rather they just you know... made a model for the unit.

Nah, it's cool. I understand. I don't think anyone would really have a problem with it, at least your still using an official GW model for it. If you were using a different company that could potentially cause an issue in a tournament but otherwise I would just ask the organizers if it was OK. If they say yes then no one can really complain.

Bit of a necro here, but I figured I would show you guys the finished product. I've played these a bunch now with 0 complaints.

P.S. I painted my first mini about 1 week before these guys; NOT pro quality haha.
