I have one unit of iron hands vet bikers with shields and chainswords and dual claws on the Sgt. I have another shield unit but can't decide on their guns, or should I I've them chainswords or other melee weapons? I was thinking flamers or storm bolsters, as I use the bikers for horde control. They inevitably end up in melee to get close enough for max dakka but perhaps with flamers they can wipe out things more easily? I have dreadnoughts for heavy firepower. And a dakka raven.

I would be tempted by Storm bolters. 8 shots each at up to 12" range is awesome and very affordable too.

Storm bolters on bikes is a tactic I've seen used by space wolf players. Just overwhelming dakka for some solid anti infantry.

I like the sound of that too, very cheap extra shots.

If you're starved for points, using a Storm Bolter is a great way to very cheaply increase your damage output.

I've heard good things about combi-Flamers and to a lesser extent combi-Melta, since they are assault weapons, and thus you can take advantage of the massive Advance range that Bikers can get, but I'm a little skeptical. (After all, if you advance, you're not getting in any of your Bolter shots.)

I like putting Plasma on bikes, simply because Plasma is really good.

I'd say Plasma/Combi-Plasma only really becomes an option if they have a Captain nearby, who HUGELY increases it's effectiveness, failing that, I think Storm Bolters all day for the value.
