Guard Heavy Weapon Crewman

Hi!
When a weapon have the stats of "Rapid fire 1", does that mean you'll get one shot per shooting fase? Doesn't seem very "rapid" to me...
Also the same with like "Heavy weapon 4" etc, is the number the actual attacks or am I missing something?
Can't make sense out of the rule book.

Rapid Fire means you get that number of shots, and double it in half range. So a Rapid Fire 1, 24" gun would get one shot at 12-24", and two at 1-12".
Heavy 4 does indeed mean you get four shots with it, each time it shoots.

Read the rules for Rapid Fire Weapons. You get double shots at half range. Heavy 4 means it fires 4 times. Again, all clearly explained in the rules for weapon types. The rulebook is free https://www.games-workshop.com/resources/PDF/40k/warhammer_40000_en.pdf Page 6 is what you want.
