Just started with space wolves and for wolf guard terminators it says 1 in 5 may take a CML, not necessarily replace anything with it. Battlescribe won't let me do it so I'm kinda confused

Also I'm not sure if I can give a full unit of Wulfen th/ss. It seems like somewhere it states that the leader is stuck with claws. Unit entry in index states any model can take... etc.

As far as I’m aware yes you can.
The missile launcher attaches to the top of terminator armour. In my BattleScribe a WGT with launcher gives you the options to equip em with TH/SS. So dunno but it is a legal setup to my knowledge.

Yes you can have wolf guard in term armor with storm shield, thunder hammer, and cyclone missile launcher according to the index.

Having said that the cost for such a model is stupid high.

Wolf guard with that loadout is 106 pts.

A dreadnought with assault cannon and missile launcher is 116 pts in the index.

Yes they are not the same but I would wager that the dreadnought would do better than the lone wolf guard.

The terminator is in a squad of at least 5 though. And while it's quite feasible to blast a dreadnought off the table with a few lascannon shots it's much harder to get rid of 5 terminators.

Those terminators cost roughly twice as much as the dreadnought. I'd argue that the terminators are more fragile per pt.

Agreed, even if you took base units for the other 4 terms (storm bolters and power swords) your still paying 250+ points for the squad. 2 dreads will cost 266 points if you did basic ones, assault cannons and dreadnought close combat weapons, and I would wager them lasting longer.

Don't get me wrong I understand they are different units with different goals and ways of working. You can teleport terms in, not so much with dreads. But making a term melee focused and then throwing a ranged attack in, especially when these things cost 50 points, it's not worth it. You can get a whole extra terminator for 50 points.
