As per the title. Nurlgings have a special rule that allows them to deploy anywhere on the battlefield that is more than 9" away from the enemies deployment zone during the deployment phase. If the enemy has a special rule similar to the Nurglings, are the Nurglings then allowed to deploy with 1" of those enemy models?

For the sake of discussion I'm assuming an enemy unit with a similar ability has been deployed more than 9" outside of their deployment zone already. I'm wondering if I can then put the Nurglings in base to base with this unit.

Just assume two Chaos players, both with an army of mostly Nurglings, for the maximum mischief this could cause!

When you set up a unit of
Nurglings during deployment, they can either be
set up in their deployment zone, or anywhere on
the battlefield that is more than 9" from the enemy
deployment zone.

8th made it so I can no longer sway Tau onto the side of Chaos, but they will eventually turn aside from their idea of the Greater Good to embrace the Greatest of pleasures.

Nothing says you can't, although I'm sure it's not intended!

Correct, the only restriction is the deployment zone. Being able to deploy closer than 9" to the enemy is not unprecedented, it's just the most common restriction, so Nuglings can't be "blocked" by other infiltrator-like units.

Still love the image of two Chaos players with nurgling heavy armies, taking turns to place nurglings one inch away from enemy nurglings.
Turn 1 both armies skip straight to the Fight phase, taking bets on which nurgling comes out on top!

Norway.

Sorry for the Necro-thread. But have this changed with the new deamon codex? Or can I still legally deploy nurglings within 9 of enemies with death guards?

Yes, it has changed. The rule in the Daemon Codex is not the same as the Index, and as per the Designers Commentary you must use the updated Nurgling Datasheet. As for what it has changed to, you need to buy the codex to see.

The Codex has changed it to 9" from deployment and enemy models (no need to be coy about it when we discuss and quote rules here all the time).

(The Death Guard Codex entry hasn't been FAQ'd to match yet, and I expect it will to avoid forcing players to buy the Chaos Daemons Codex for one or two units.)

Nice, thanks.
Problem now is that Norway seems to be all out of nurglings! :S (and shipping costs are high from other countries..)
