When do you find it's appropriate to bring a bloodthirster? What point game do you find is the minimum to bring one? How do you field one in a World Eaters army without bringing a group of bloodletters for a patrol attachment?

I'd say anywhere around 1000+ is fine, as long as that is your "tentpole" of the army. If you're playing world eaters, you can't play a Bloodthirster, period. It doesn't have Legion, so you aren't playing it into a World Eaters Detachment.

That being said, if you want to bring a Bloodthirster in a 1000+ game? Bring a detachment of a Bloodthirster, and 20-30 Bloodletters, along with a second Detachment of something like a Chaos Lord, and what have you. Basically, split your army even between 500 and 500 of Daemons and Eaters.

Sorry to say, but I would not at all suggest JUST bringing Daemons. They should be played as a backup for your World Eaters.

It's probably best to not worry about demons much until chapter approved comes out. Right now I only summon bloodletters in my world eaters. Everything else is criminally overcosted.

I need to return some video tapes.

I wouldn't say their stuff is overcosted at all, at least for Khorne. What they lack in range, they are absolutely monsterous in melee. If you can get them into the fray, it's game over with a Unit of Crushers or Letters. Really, the only overcosted unit i'd say is the Cannon.

Ideally I'd like to not use bloodletters at all. I pretty much only would use the bloodthirster. On paper they seem like absolute monsters.

In practice, they are fragile and die easily.

Does this apply to BT or just 'letters?

If you want to use World Eaters, you can't use a Blood Thirster without taking at least 10 Letters for a patrol.

If you wanna just take a Chaos keyworded generic army, you miss out on legion triaits and delicious Bezerkers, but you can play Daemons and CSM within the same Detachments. That allows you to play Bloodthirster with Cultists and the like.

So, Letters are unfortunatly unavoidable if you wanna go complete WE

Mostly the Thirsters, but also Letters.

Even Crushers are fairly fragile, at least for a 47p unit. The entire gimmick of Khorne Daemons is glass cannons.
